BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

Result of Poll for Special Loan of £60,000.

I HEREBY give notice that a poll was taken on the 24th day of January, 1900, on the proposal of the New Plymouth Borough Council to raise a special loan of £60,000 for the following purposes:—

  1. As to £29,000, to pay off the special loan of £29,000 already raised (maturing 30th June, 1900):

  2. As respects £21,000,—

(a.) To provide additions to and extensions of waterworks;

(b.) To provide electrical lighting;

(c.) To acquire, in connection with providing additions to and extensions of waterworks and electrical lighting, lands (within or without the borough), rights, easements, and appurtenances, and buildings, engines, machinery, and other things;

(d.) To pay compensation to any person injuriously affected;

(e.) Any other purpose incidental or in relation to any of the above purposes:

  1. As respects £10,000, to promote the convenience of the inhabitants of the borough by improving the streets of the borough:

And that the result of the said poll was as follows:—

For the proposal, 323 votes; against the proposal, 158 votes.

I therefore declared the proposal carried.

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and the Acts amending the same; and in the matter of a proposal of the New Plymouth Borough Council to raise a special loan of £60,000.

I, EDWARD DOCKRILL, Mayor of the Borough of New Plymouth, in New Zealand, do solemnly and sincerely declare—

  1. That a poll was taken on the 24th day of January, 1900, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £60,000 for the purposes described in my notice hereunto annexed and marked “A,” and that the statements contained in the said notice are true.

  2. That all proceedings required by the above-mentioned Acts to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses to the said proposal have been duly taken.

  3. That the resolution in favour of the said proposal has been duly carried.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Moa Road Board, County of Taranaki.

MOA ROAD BOARD.

Result of poll of ratepayers of the Richmond Road Special Rating District, taken the 27th January, 1900, upon the following proposal: (1) To form and metal the Richmond Road from the junction of the Lincoln Road to boundary of Moa District; (2) to borrow for such purpose the sum of £320, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment, 1899,” subsection (1), clause 2; (3) to strike as security for such loan a special rate of 1½d. in the pound; (4) to constitute the Richmond Road Special Rating District, to comprise the following lands—viz., Sections 215, 220 (in two subdivisions), 221 (in two subdivisions), 227, part 229, 230, part 233, Block XIII., Waitara Survey District; part 232, Block I., Huiroa Survey District:—

Total number of ratepayers on special roll, 9; total number of votes exercisable, 9: Total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 6; total number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.

I hereby declare the proposal carried.

BOROUGH OF GREYMOUTH.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

To the Hon. the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.

I, ANDREW MATHESON, Mayor of the Borough of Greymouth, in the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, pursuant to section 184 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” give you notice that on the 31st day of January, 1900, a poll was taken under the provisions of the said Act on a proposal of the Council of the said borough to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £40,000, a copy of which proposal is as follows:—

Greymouth Borough Council.—Public Notice.

Public notice is hereby given that it is the intention of the Borough Council to take the necessary steps to raise a loan for the following purposes, viz.:—

And it is further notified that it is proposed to pledge a special rate of 2d. in the pound on the capital value of the rateable property in the said borough as security for the said loan.

And I also give you notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the said poll was as follows: Number of voters on special roll, 745: Number of votes polled, 500, of whom 267 voted for the proposal, 206 against the proposal, and 27 were informal—majority for the proposal, 61.

And I hereby give you notice that the said proposal was duly carried upon the taking of such poll.

I, Andrew Matheson, of the Borough of Greymouth, in the Colony of New Zealand, do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows:—

  1. I am the Mayor of the said Borough of Greymouth.

  2. That all the proceedings required to be taken under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of the said borough to a proposal to borrow by way of special loan the total sum of £40,000 for the following purposes—viz., water-supply, £12,204; drainage, £6,621; street-improvements, £5,175; and public and private lighting, £16,000—have been duly taken.

  3. That upon a poll of the burgesses of the said borough taken on the 31st day of January, 1900, the said proposal was duly carried.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
