of the Defence Forces. The other officers will be recommended by the captain of the corps, and hold on appointment the rank of honorary lieutenant.
(e.) Each member must enlist for a term of two years, and take the oath of allegiance prescribed for Volunteers, and be subject to the conditions of “The Defence Act, 1886,” and its amendments, and the regulations for the time being affecting cadet corps.
(f.) Capitation will be granted at the rate of £1 per head, or such other amount as may be annually appropriated by Parliament, to officers and members of the corps, under the following conditions, and such other conditions as may from time to time be prescribed:—
(g.) One-half service in such corps will be allowed to count towards the New Zealand long-service medal.
(h.) Members of cadet corps may be allowed to transfer to adult corps after attaining the age of seventeen years, without break of service.
(i.) Cadets must expend their fifty rounds in class-firing at ranges up to 500 yards, and attend at least twenty-four parades of at least one hour’s duration during the Volunteer year.
(j.) Officers of cadet corps will be allowed to attend a school of instruction, when practicable, and may be granted a substantive commission after passing the prescribed examination for their rank.
(k.) Officers may, on the recommendation of the Officer Commanding the District, be allowed to attend camps of adult corps.
(l.) Cadet corps are liable to disbandment, on the recommendation of the Commandant, with the approval of the Defence Minister.
(m.) When practicable, cadet corps may be allowed to hold camps for a period not less than two days, and not exceeding seven days. Only cadets who have attained six months’ service will be allowed to go into camp. A grant, not exceeding 1s. 6d. per cadet per diem, towards expenses of such camps, will be granted.

Fixing the Day of Election for Councillors for the Rotorua Town Council.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS it is provided in section six of “The Rotorua Town Council Act, 1900,” that the first election of three members of the Council shall be held on a day to be fixed by the Governor: And whereas it is desirable to give effect to the said enactment:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by “The Rotorua Town Council Act, 1900,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby fix Thursday, the twentieth day of December, one thousand nine hundred, as the day on which shall be held the election of three members to serve on the Rotorua Town Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

to be a Trustee, in the place of Archibald Macalister, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Lumsden Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the several persons whose names are specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto to be Trustees to provide for the maintenance and care of the public cemetery specified in the second column of the said Schedule.
