THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by virtue of the power and authority conferred upon me by the third section of “The Orchard and Garden Pests Act, 1896,” do hereby revoke a Proclamation (No. 503) prohibiting the introduction of scale-infested citrus fruit only, appearing in the New Zealand Gazette dated the ninth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, and in lieu thereof do hereby proclaim and declare that the introduction into New Zealand of any fruit infested with any species of scale insect (coccid), or in or on which there are traces that any such pest is or has been present in any form or stage of development, is hereby absolutely prohibited; and, if any fruit hereby prohibited is imported into this colony, then such fruit, and the packages containing the same, shall be dealt with in the manner provided by section six of the said Act with respect to plants and other things unlawfully introduced to the colony.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Taking Lands for a Road-deviation through Lands, Borough of Palmerston North.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, with the consent of the owner and lessee of the lands hereinafter mentioned, and with the consent of the Palmerston North Borough Council, being the local authority in whose district the said lands are situated, do by this notice hereby proclaim as a road the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

The several parcels of land mentioned hereunder :—

Regulations for Trout-fishing, Auckland Acclimatisation District.

RANFURLY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of October, 1899.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following regulations for all that part of the colony known as “The Auckland Acclimatisation District,” as the same is defined in the said regulations, and the waters thereof, except as hereinafter mentioned; and doth hereby declare that these regulations shall, as from the date of the publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette, supersede all regulations at variance therewith.


REGULATIONS.

  1. Licenses to fish for trout in all waters within that district or part of the North Island known as “The Auckland Acclimatisation District,” which includes the Counties of Rodney, Waitemata, Eden, Manukau, Coromandel, Thames, Ohinemuri, Raglan, Waikato, Waipa, Piako, Rotorua, Kawhia, and Taupo West, may be issued under the hand of the Secretary of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society (hereinafter termed “the said society”), or any one authorised by the said Secretary in that behalf: Provided, however, that all fishing with rod and line, except with artificial fly, is prohibited in the Waimakariri River from its source to its junction with the Waihou or Thames River, and that all fishing is prohibited in the following streams within the County of Rotorua: All the tributaries of the Waikorowhiti, near Rotorua, and the Mangaweri and Mangapikopiko tributaries of the Whirinaki River.

  2. For every license to fish for trout in the waters in the Auckland Acclimatisation District, issued to men under the hand of the Secretary of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, or any one authorised by the said Secretary in that behalf, a fee of one pound will be charged.
