Bounded towards the north by Garvie Survey District; towards the east generally by Sections Nos. 78, 77, 75, 74a, 80, and 81, Block I., Wendon Survey District; towards the south by the southern boundary-line of Block I., Wendonside Survey District; and towards the west by Block II., Wendonside Survey District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Notifying Land in Wellington for Sale by Public Auction.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the fifteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, as the time at which the land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

Puketoi Survey District.

Section 1, Block III.: Area, 30 acres 1 rood; upset price, £15.

This section is situated on the northern slopes of the Puketoi Range, distant about six miles and a half from Makuri Township. The access is from Makuri, which is about six miles and a half distant via Makuri-Aohanga Road for four miles, the remainder is standing bush on the top of the Puketoi Range. The section comprises hilly country, sloping from top of Puketoi Range. The soil is of poor quality, resting on limestone formation. The forest is comprised of tawhero and mountain scrub. The elevation is about 2,560 ft. above sea-level.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this ninth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Temporarily reserving Land in the Otago Land District.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land District of Otago described in the Schedule hereunder written, for a ballast-pit for railway purposes.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Otago Land District, being part of the Pomahaka River, situate in the Glenkenich Survey District, bounded towards the north by a right line, being the production in a westerly direction of the northern boundary-line of Section No. 1, Block 15, Glenkenich Survey District; towards the east generally by road, and land taken by Proclamation along the eastern bank of the said Pomahaka River fronting Sections Nos. 1, 2, 6, and 7, Block 15, and Sections Nos. 1, 53, and 54, Block 13; towards the south by a right line, being the production in a westerly direction of the north side of the road forming the southern boundary of the last-mentioned section; and towards the west generally by the road along the west bank of the Pomahaka River fronting Sections Nos. 29, 39, 38, 37, 36, 35, and 78, Block 3, Glenkenich Survey District, and part of the Township of Kelso.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twelfth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Notice of Application to proclaim the Waiau River, together with all its Tributaries, Watercourses for the Deposit of Tailings, &c.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in him by section one hundred and nine of “The Mining Act, 1898,” His Excellency the Governor hereby notifies that application has been made to him to constitute and set apart by Proclamation the watercourse, the name, locality, and description whereof are set forth in the Schedule hereto, to be a watercourse into which may be discharged any tailings, débris, and waste water produced by or resulting from mining operations carried on under the said Act.

Any person who objects to such Proclamation being made, or whose land, or riparian or other rights in respect of such land, will be damaged or injuriously affected by the operation thereof, is required to serve on the Minister of Mines, within the period of ninety days after the publication hereof in the Gazette, full particulars of such objection, and also a claim in the prescribed form setting forth full particulars of all compensation that will be claimed by him in the event of such Proclamation being made.

No person will be entitled to any compensation for damage or injury consequent on the operation of such Proclamation unless his claim is duly served in the manner and within the period aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

That river known as the Waiau River, which flows southerly from Lake Manapouri for a distance of about sixty-four miles to the sea, together with the tributaries thereof.

Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the fifteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”
