Station; and thence by the western watershed of the Wanganui River to a point in line with the southern boundary of Block VIII., Ngai re Survey District: thence towards the south by a right line to and by the southern boundary of said Block VIII., and the production in a westerly direction of that boundary-line to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 48, Block VI.; thence by the southern boundaries of Blocks VI. and V., said Ngai re Survey District, to the Waingongoro River; thence by a line along the middle of that river to Finnerty Road; thence by a line along the middle of Finnerty Road and Hastings Road to the northern boundary-line of Section No. 32, Block VIII., Kaupokonui Survey District; thence by Sections Nos. 32 and 31, across a road, and by Section No. 29, said Block VIII., to Palmer Road; thence by a line along the middle of that road to the northern boundary of Block XI., Kaupokonui Survey District; and thence by Blocks XI. and X., said Kaupokonui Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 1, Block VI: thence towards the west generally by said Section No. 1, a line across the Opunake Road, and by Sections Nos. 16, 13, and 11, Block VI., said Kaupokonui Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; and thence by a right line to the summit of Mount Egmont, the place of commencement.
CLIFTON COUNTY.
All that area in the Taranaki Land District bounded towards the north generally by a line along the middle of the Mokau River from the sea to its northernmost source, and thence by a right line to the summit of Mount Rangitoto: thence towards the east generally by a right line to the source of the Ongaruhe River, and by a line along the middle of the Ongaruhe and Wanganui Rivers to the 39th parallel of south latitude: thence towards the south by that parallel to the confiscation boundary-line: thence towards the south-east by that boundary-line to the Te Wera Road: thence towards the south-west generally by a line along the middle of Te Wera Road to the Waitara River; thence by a line along the middle of that river to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 18, Block V., Ngatimaru Survey District; thence by a right line to that boundary-line, by said Section No. 18, by Sections Nos. 13 and 9, Block VIII., Huiroa Survey District, to the road along the northern side of the Waitara River; thence by a right line across that road, and to the middle of the Waitara River; thence by a line along the middle of that river to the sea: and thence towards the north-west and west generally by the sea to the mouth of the Mokau River.

Altering the Boundaries of the Land Districts of Marlborough, Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of January, 1899.

THE HONOURABLE W. C. WALKER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the twenty-second section of “The Land Act, 1892,” certain land districts are defined, but it is provided that the Governor by Order in Council, if he shall deem it necessary, may from time to time alter the boundaries of any land district as he shall think fit:
And whereas it is desirable to alter the boundaries of the Marlborough, Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago Land Districts:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby direct and declare that, from and after the date hereof, the boundaries of the said Land Districts of Marlborough, Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago shall be such as are described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north and east and south-east generally by the sea, from the entrance to Pelorus Sound to the mouth of the Conway River; thence towards the south-west generally by a line along the middle of the Conway River and of the Towy River to the source of the latter river; thence by Highfield Run and Run No. 14 (Hoosack) to the Clarence River; thence by a line along the middle of that river to the Acheron River; thence towards the west generally by a line along the middle of the Acheron River to the Guide River, and by a line along the middle of the Guide River to Barefell Pass; thence by a right line running in the direction of Tophouse (the said line forming the north-eastern boundary of St. Helen’s Run and part of the north-eastern boundary of Tarndale Run) to the north-eastern corner of the said Tarndale Run; thence by the northern boundary of the Tarndale Run aforesaid to the summit of Raglan Range; thence by the summit of the said Raglan Range to the aforesaid right line drawn from Barefell Pass to Tophouse; thence by the said right line to Tophouse; thence by a right line to Ward’s Pass; thence by the summit of the range over Mount Rintoul to the Red Hills, at the source of the Pelorus River; thence by a line along the middle of that river to its confluence with the Heringa River, by a line along the middle of the latter river to its source near Saddle Hill, and thence by the summit of the range over Mount Doppa, Castor Peaks, Elliot Peak, and the leading spur to Elaine Bay; and thence by Pelorus Sound to the sea; including Arapawa Island, Maud Island, Chetwoode Islands, and adjacent islands.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north east and north-west generally by the ocean, from Cape Farewell to Pelorus Sound; thence towards the south-east generally by the Marlborough Land District, hereinbefore described, to the boundary between the Tarndale and St. Helen’s Runs; thence by the boundary-line between the St. Helen’s and Tarndale Runs to the Clarence River; thence by a line along the middle of that river to Lake Tennyson; thence by the eastern shore of that lake and by St. James’s Run to the summit of the Spenser Mountains; thence by the summit of the Spenser Mountains over Mount Humboldt and Mount Una, and by the summit of the main watershed over Travers Peak and Mount Barron to Amuri Pass; thence by the summit of the watershed to Hope Pass, and by the summit of the watershed over Mount Stapp to the Hurunui Pass; thence towards the south-west by a right line to where the Arnold River debouches from Lake Brunner; thence by a line along the middle of the Arnold River to the Grey River, and by a line along the middle of the Grey River to the sea; and towards the west generally by the sea to Cape Farewell; including D’Urville Island, Rabbit Island, Pepin Island, and adjacent islands.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north generally by the Nelson and Marlborough Land Districts, hereinbefore described, from the Hurunui Pass to the mouth of the Conway River; thence towards the east generally by the sea to the mouth of the Waitaki River; thence towards the south generally by a line along the middle of the Waitaki to the Ohau River, and by a line along the middle of the Ohau River to Lake Ohau, and thence by a right line drawn in the direction of Mount Aspiring to the western watershed of Lake Ohau; thence towards the west by the western watershed of Lake Ohau and of the Hopkins River, over Mount Huxley to the summit of the Southern Alps at Brodrick’s Pass; and thence towards the north-west by the summit of the Southern Alps to the Hurunui Pass aforesaid; including the adjacent islands.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north generally by a right line from the northern side of Big Bay to Mount Aspiring; thence by the summit of the Southern Alps to Brodrick’s Pass; thence by the Canterbury Land District, hereinbefore described, to the mouth of the Waitaki River; thence towards the south-east generally by the ocean to the eastern boundary of Waikawa Survey District; thence towards the west generally by the Waikawa, Mokoreta, Slopedown, Waikaka, Chatton, Wendon, Waikaia, Gap, Rockyside, and Kingston Survey Districts, and the western shore of Lake Wakatipu; thence towards the south generally by the southern shore of Lake Wakatipu to the western boundary-line of Mid-Wakatipu Survey District; thence by Mid-Wakatipu, Mavora, Swinton, Eglington, Arran, and Doon Survey Districts, a
