Vesting a Reserve in the Wanganui County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of January, 1899.

THE HONOURABLE W. C. WALKER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto was permanently set apart as a reserve for road metal on the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to vest the said land in the Wanganui County Council:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in “The Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Wanganui County,” in trust, as a reserve for road metal.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Land District of Wellington, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Section No. 20, Block IV., Mangawhero Survey District. Bounded on the north by a public road, and on the south by Section No. 50: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington.

Vesting Reserves in the Ashburton Borough Council.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of January, 1899.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto have been permanently set apart as reserves for plantation purposes:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to vest the said lands in the Ashburton Borough Council:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserves mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in “The Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Ashburton,” in trust, as reserves for plantation purposes.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 34 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 298x, Town of Ashburton. Bounded towards the north-east by the Cemetery Reserve 298, 1071·7 links; towards the south-east by the South-east Town Belt, 100 links; and towards the south-west by Reserve 3232 and Dobson Street, 1043 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 6 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 3232, Town of Ashburton. Bounded towards the north-east by a closed road, being Reserve 298x, 854·3 links; towards the south-east by the South-east Town Belt, 150 links; and towards the south-west by Dobson Street, 811·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch.

Native Land proposed to be taken for a Road in Whangara Block, County of Cook.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of January, 1899.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the construction of a road in Whangara Block, County of Cook:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown: And whereas a map in duplicate has been prepared of the said land by the Cook County Council, as required by the eighty-eighth section of “The Public Works Act, 1894”:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the eighty-eighth section of the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purpose of the said road, and the said land shall vest in the Cook County Council as from the fifteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Excepting Land from Operation of Section 117 of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894.”

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of January, 1899.

WHEREAS by section four of “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1895,” it is enacted that the Governor may, by Order in Council, except from the operation of section one hundred and seventeen of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), for a limited period or otherwise, and either generally or for such purposes and subject to such restrictions as shall be in such Order specified, any land, wheresoever situate, which is for the time being subject to the operation of the said section, or any interest therein or right over the same, or may in like manner make such exception in favour exclusively of any lessee or other person who has been bonâ fide in occupation of and has made improvements on such land, or has paid money to Native owners for lease or purchase thereof, prior to the passing of the said Act: Provided that no Order in Council under the provisions of this section shall take effect until after the expiration of two months from the date of the publication thereof in the Gazette: Provided also that every alienation under the provisions of this section shall be confirmed by the Court in terms of section fifty-three of the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section four of “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1895,” and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby except from the operation of section one hundred and seventeen of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” for the purpose of alienation by way of lease, all that piece or parcel of land, containing eighty-nine
