THE following special order, made by the Whakatane County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886.”

WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order.

SPECIAL ORDER abolishing, creating, and providing for Representation of certain Ridings.

A copy of resolutions adopted at a special meeting of the Whakatane County Council held on 21st June, 1899, and confirmed as a special order at a special meeting of the said Council held on 19th July, 1899:—

“1. That the Opotiki Town District be constituted a riding of this county, under the name of ‘The Opotiki Riding,’ and that such riding shall elect one Councillor.

“2. That Waikana Riding be abolished, and that such abolished riding, together with the residue of Waioeka Riding (i.e., the whole of Waioeka Riding except Opotiki Town District), be constituted a riding of this county under the name of ‘Waioeka Riding,’ and that such last-named riding shall elect four Councillors.

“3. That the present Omataroa Riding shall elect three Councillors (instead of two, as at present).

“4. That this special order shall come into force at the next general election of the Council:

“Provided, however, that such special order shall come into force on the making thereof in so far and to such extent as may be necessary for preparing any roll, or otherwise providing for such election.”

I, Henry Edward Elliott, Clerk of the Whakatane County Council, do hereby certify that the above-written special order of the said Council has been duly made.

Special Order made by the Ngatapa Road Board, County of Cook.

THE following special order, made by the Ngatapa Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

A SPECIAL ORDER made by the Ngatapa Road Board at a Special Meeting held on Saturday, the 15th July, 1899.

RESOLVED, That a special rate of 1½d. in the pound be made on all rateable property within a special district, hereinafter defined, for a period of twenty-six years, commencing on the 1st August, 1899. The rate to be an annual-recurring rate, and to be due and payable in one sum on the 1st day of June in each year.

This rate is made to provide interest upon a loan of £2,000 to be obtained under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, for Ngatapa-Motu Road.

The Special Rating District.

Section 3, Block II., Motu Survey District; Sections 2, 1, and 10, Block X., Motu Survey District; Sections 4, 13, 5, and 14, Blocks X. and XI., Motu Survey District; Sections 3 and 11, Blocks X. and XI., Motu Survey District; Sections 12, 1, and 5, Blocks XI., XIV., and XV., Motu Survey District; Sections 1, 7, and 3, Block XV., Motu Survey District; Sections 1 and 2, Block III., Ngatapa Survey District; Sections 1 and 2, Block IV., Ngatapa Survey District; Sections 2, 1, 5, and 9, Blocks VI. and VII., Motu Survey District; Sections 3, 8, 4, and 7, Blocks VI. and VII., Motu Survey District; Sections 6 and 9, Blocks VII. and XI., Motu Survey District; Sections 4, 5, 7, and 8, Block XI., Motu Survey District; Sections 6 and 4, Blocks XI. and XV., Motu Survey District; Sections 3 and 2, Blocks XV. and XVI., Motu Survey District; Section 2, Block XVI., Motu Survey District.

I certify that the common seal of the inhabitants of the Ngatapa Road District has been affixed hereto this 15th day of July, 1899.
