Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Ngatapa Road District, County of Cook.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Ngatapa Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886.”

NGATAPA ROAD DISTRICT.

I HEREBY give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers in the Ngatapa-Motu Special District, taken on Saturday, 3rd June, 1899, upon a proposal by the Ngatapa Road Board to raise a loan of £2,000 in terms of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” the following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal, 13 voters exercised 22 votes: Number on the roll, 21 voters, capable of exercising 32 votes.

As a majority of the ratepayers exercised a majority of the votes in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC TRUSTEE.

WHEREAS William Chignell is at present detained as an inmate of the Auckland Industrial School (a school established under “The Industrial Schools Act, 1882”), and such inmate is entitled to certain funds or moneys, amounting to the sum of £94 13s. 9d., more or less, now in the hands of the Public Trustee, as a trustee for the said William Chignell, under an order of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, Northern Judicial District, Taranaki, made on the 16th day of December, 1898: And whereas it appears expedient to issue the direction hereinafter set forth:

Now, I, William Campbell Walker, the Minister of Education, do hereby, in exercise of the power conferred by section 3 of “The Industrial Schools Act Amendment Act, 1895,” direct the Public Trustee to take possession of and to apply the said moneys for the benefit of the said inmate, in accordance with the provisions of the last-mentioned Act.

Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894,” made due inquiries with respect to the land described in the Schedule hereunder written, and the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said land, given the notices prescribed by section 4 of the said Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of the said section: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained who the owner is, and believe that such owner is not in the colony, nor has such owner established his title to the said land, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said land is, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in me, as the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the said Act, the assessed value of the said land being less than £100.

Pelorus Sound Mail Steam Services.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 31st July, 1899.

TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, until noon of Monday, the 14th August proximo, for the performance of the following mail-services:—

  1. Once every two weeks, from about the 1st September next to the 31st December, 1902, by steamer, from Wellington to Havelock and back to Wellington, calling at Hikoekoea, Te Puru, Ketu Bay, Elaine Bay, Brightlands, Waimaru, Hopai Bay, Marie’s Bay, Tira-ora, Homewood, Nydia Bay, Maori Bay, *Mahau Sound, and Havelock, and at such other places in Pelorus Sound as may be determined upon by the Postmaster-General.

Tenderers are also invited to state for what subsidy they would be prepared, if required, to perform a weekly service to and from the above-named places.

  1. Once every two weeks, from about the 1st September next to the 31st December, 1902, by steamer from and to Havelock, calling at Mahau Sound, Maori Bay, Tira-ora, Homewood, Brightlands, Ketu Bay, and Te Puru, and at such other places in Pelorus Sound as may be determined upon by the Postmaster-General.

The names, tonnage, passenger-accommodation, and horsepower of the steamers proposed to be employed to be stated.

Forms of tender and conditions of contract may be obtained at the General Post Office, Wellington; the Chief Post-offices, Nelson and Blenheim; and the Post-offices, Picton and Havelock.

Tenders, indorsed “Tenders for Pelorus Sound Mail-service, No. ,” to be addressed to the Secretary, General Post Office, Wellington.

The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
