Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Port Chalmers.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Port Chalmers, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

BOROUGH OF PORT CHALMERS.

Port Chalmers, 1st July, 1899.

SIR,—I have the honour, pursuant to section 184 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to give you notice that on the 14th day of June, 1899, at Port Chalmers, the proposal of the Port Chalmers Borough Council to raise by way of loan the sum of £1,200 for the purpose of erecting and establishing abattoirs under the provisions of “The Abattoirs and Slaughterhouses Act, 1894,” was duly carried by vote of the ratepayers.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

I, John Mill, Mayor of the Town of Port Chalmers, do solemnly and sincerely declare,—

  1. That the proposal of the Port Chalmers Borough Council to raise by way of loan the sum of £1,200 for the purpose of erecting and establishing abattoirs under the provisions of “The Abattoirs and Slaughterhouses Act, 1894,” was submitted to a poll of the burgesses taken at Port Chalmers on the 14th day of June, 1899.

  2. All the proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of the said Borough of Port Chalmers to the said proposal have been duly taken.

  3. The resolution in favour of the said proposal has been duly carried; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Special Order made by the Waipipi Road Board, County of Manukau.

THE following special order, made by the Waipipi Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

WAIPipi ROAD BOARD.

Notice is hereby given that the following special order was made on Wednesday, 9th November, 1898, and confirmed on Saturday, 10th December, 1898:—

“That a special rate of ½d. in the pound be made and levied on all the rateable property within No. 2 Subdivision, Waipipi Road District, for the purpose of providing interest and sinking fund on a proposed loan of £500, to be borrowed under the provisions of ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ for the purpose of metalling a portion of the main Waiuku–Waipipi Road and a portion of the main Waiuku–Karioitahi Road; the said rate to be an annually recurring one for a period of twenty-six years, by which time the whole debt will be extinguished.”

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

THE following special order, made by the Avon Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

AVON ROAD BOARD DISTRICT.—SPECIAL ORDER.

In pursuance of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” the Road Board of the Avon Road District, at a special meeting thereof held at the office of the said Board on the 16th day of June, 1899, doth hereby order and ordain as follows, that is to say:—

  1. That, for the purpose of providing the interest and sinking fund upon a loan of £1,200 agreed to be granted to the Avon Road Board by the General Government of New Zealand under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purposes expressed in a “proposal to raise a loan” which was, on the 17th day of March, 1899, duly submitted to the ratepayers in respect of the properties situated in and fronting upon the parts of the Avon Road Board District therein and in the Schedule hereto specified, and which proposal was on the said last-mentioned date duly carried pursuant to the said Act, a special rate of 1s. in the pound sterling of the amount of the aggregate annual values of the said properties of such ratepayers fronting on the sections of each street or road or part of each street or road defined in the said proposal and in the said Schedule hereto be made and levied in the manner provided by the said Act and “The Rating Act, 1894.”

  2. That such rate shall be an annual recurring rate, and shall continue to be levied for a period of twenty-six years from the date of the granting of the said loan.

  3. That the interest on the amount of the said loan for the first year from the granting thereof shall be paid out of the capital of the said loan.

The Schedule.

The North Road on the south-east side from Green’s Road to its junction with the Papanui Road, a distance of 34 chains 64 links.

Papanui Road on the west side from its junction with Harewood Road to the north end of the present channelling and kerbing, in a line with the boundary between the properties of Messrs. Joseph Palmer and George Dunnage, a distance of about 37 chains 25 links, and from the south end of the present channelling to the junction of the north side of Norman’s Road with the Papanui Road, a distance of about 7 chains 75 links.

Church Street on the north and south sides from the railway to the Papanui Road, a distance together of about 24 chains 50 links.

John Street on the north and south sides from the creek to the Papanui Road, a distance together of about 15 chains 50 links.

Bligh’s Road on the north and south sides from the railway to the Papanui Road, a distance together of about 39 chains.

Hawthorne Road on the south side from its junction with Nursery Road to Papanui Road, a distance of about 10 chains 50 links.

Nursery Road on the west side from its junction with Bligh’s Road to Hawthorne Road, a distance of about 14 chains.

Loftus Street on the west side from the North Road to its junction with Horner Street, and from Horner Street to the creek, a distance together of about 6 chains.

Horner Street on the north side from Papanui Road to its junction with Loftus Street, a distance of about 7 chains.

Corner Inlet.—Franklyn and Stockyard Channels.

It is hereby notified that on or about the 16th October, 1899, all buoys now situated in the Franklyn and Stockyard Channels westward of the black-and-white-striped buoy marking the east end of Franklyn Channel will be removed.

This affects General Notice to Mariners, Victoria, 1898, page 104, also Admiralty Chart No. 1703.
