Amendment, Volunteer Regulations.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the deletion in amended paragraph 148, Volunteer Regulation (a), the words “or fired in,” on the third line; and also, in the same sub-paragraph, the words from “Marksmen,” on the third line, down to the end of the sub-paragraph, inclusive.

Notice of Vesting of Lands in the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894,” made due inquiries with respect to the lands described in the Schedule hereunder written, and the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said lands, given the notices prescribed by section 4 of the said Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of the said section: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained who the owner is, and believe that such owner is not in the colony, nor has such owner established his title to the said lands, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said lands are, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in me, as the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the said Act, the assessed value of both parcels of land being less than £100.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land, containing 29·5 perches, more or less, being Lot 246 on deposited Plan No. 91 of subdivision of part of Rural Section 6023, District of Ashburton, in the Provincial District of Canterbury; and also all that parcel of land, containing 38 perches, more or less, being Lot 81 on deposited Plan No. 264 of subdivision of part of Rural Section 4904, in the said District of Ashburton.

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 1 rood, more or less, being Section 322, Town of Lyttelton, in the Provincial District of Canterbury, having frontages to Christchurch Road and St. David’s Street. The land was Crown-granted to the Reverend James Peter Rhodes, of the Elms, Rugby, County Warwick, England, who died about 1852. The land is in the occupation of Mr. W. Owen, of Lyttelton.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

Notice published pursuant to the Provisions of Section 15 of “The Public Trust Office Consolidation Act, 1894.”

NOTICE is hereby given that, no person having taken out administration, the Public Trustee has filed in the office of the Supreme Court at Wellington an election to administer the several intestate estates of the persons deceased whose names, residences, and occupations, so far as known, are hereunder respectively set forth, their gross properties being estimated not to exceed £250 in each case.

Partnership Notice.

NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership heretofore subsisting between Herbert Read and George Fenwick, trading under the name or firm of “Read and Fenwick,” as glass silverers and bevellers, in Wellington, was dissolved by the death of the said George Fenwick on 7th March, 1899.

All debts owing to or by the late firm will be received and paid by the said Herbert Read.

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced from Shale obtained in New Zealand.

Wellington, 29th October, 1898.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the production of mineral oil under the following conditions:—

  1. A bonus of 1s. per gallon (£5,000) will be paid on the first 100,000 gallons of mineral oil produced from shale obtained in the Colony of New Zealand, the oil to be of a quality approved of by Government, and to be sold at a price not exceeding 1s. a gallon at any port of shipment in the colony.

  2. Notice of intention to claim the aforesaid bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1899.

  3. The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1900.

  4. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.

  5. The other conditions—as to quantity, priority, quality, and value—to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.
