to be a Veterinary Surgeon to the Government of New Zealand in terms of “The Civil Service Reform Act, 1886,” and a Special Inspector in terms of “The Stock Act Amendment Act, 1898.” To date from the 1st May, 1899.

PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

THE following is the result of poll on the proposal to borrow £2,500 for construction of the Upper Kina Road, in the Parihaka Road District:—

Number of ratepayers on roll, 25, representing 26 votes: Votes recorded for the proposal, 18; number of ratepayers voting, 18; votes against, nil.

As a majority of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.
