shoalest part of Sunday Rock, Waiheke Channel, in 5 ft. water, low-water springs, papa-rock bottom, with the following magnetic bearings :—
Kauri Point, just open of Finger Point, N. 15° E.
Pakihi Island, just closed by Thames Point, S. 8° E.
S.E. point of Waiheke Island, S. 73° W.
Captain Bollons, of the Government steamer “Hinemoa,” reports that the position of this rock is correctly shown on the chart, but advises mariners to navigate with caution in the vicinity, as, although 6, 7, and 9 fathoms were found all round, and the patch was thoroughly searched, it is possible there are other shoal spots or rocks, the bottom in places being found to be very uneven.
Charts, &c., affected : Admiralty chart No. 1896 ; “New Zealand Pilot,” 1891, Chap. i., page 57.
