Declaring Parts of the Berwick-Waipori Road to be County Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighth day of May, 1899.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by section one hundred and two of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the roads described in the Schedules below shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become county roads.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
BERWICK–WAIPORI ROAD.
ALL that portion of the Berwick–Waipori Road commencing at a point marked “A” on the plan referred to hereunder, the said point “A” being situated on the road forming the southern boundary of Section 17, Block XV., Maungatua Survey District, and about 4 chains in an easterly direction from the western boundary thereof; proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction to a point marked “B,” where the said road is intersected by the dividing-line between the Tuapeka and Taieri Counties: all in the Taieri County: as the same is delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 18508, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
BERWICK–WAIPORI ROAD.
ALL that portion of the Berwick–Waipori Road commencing at a point marked “B” on the plan referred to in the First Schedule hereto, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction, and terminating at a point on the southern side of the road forming the southern boundary of Section No. 6, Block VIII., Waipori Survey District, the said point being marked “C” on the plan herein referred to: all in the Tuapeka County: as the same is delineated on the plan numbered P.W.D. 18508, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured purple.

Altering the Name of the Borough of Newton.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by sections two and three of “The Designation of Districts Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor in Council may, at the request or with the consent of the Council of any county, city, or borough, alter the geographical name or designation of any place or locality in the colony:
And whereas the Newton Borough Council has requested that the present name of “Newton” be altered as hereinafter mentioned, and it appears expedient to comply with such request:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Borough of Newton aforesaid shall, on and after the sixteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, be called and known by the name of “Grey Lynn,” and the name of the said Borough of Newton is hereby altered accordingly.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
Shooting Season for Imported and Native Game, License-fee, &c., Feilding District.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that hares, eck pheasants, and Californian quail may be taken or killed within the Feilding District, described in the Schedule hereto, from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, both inclusive (subject, nevertheless, to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of ten shillings each, and that licenses to sell game and native game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Postmasters at Feilding and Ashhurst are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.
And I do further declare that native game (excepting tui, huia, white heron, and crested grebe) may be taken or killed within the above-mentioned district from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, both days inclusive.
SCHEDULE.
FEILDING AND DISTRICT ACCLIMATISATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north by the Kawhatau and Pourangaki Streams from the Rangitikei River to the summit of the Ruahine Range: thence towards the east generally by the summit of that range to the Manawatu Gorge, and by the Manawatu River to the Raukawa Road: thence towards the south generally by that road, which forms the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 455 and 454, Block VIII., Kairanga Survey District, to the Palmerston–Ashhurst Road; thence by that road to Stony Creek Road; thence by that road and the railway-line to the Oroua River; thence by that river to Awahuri; and thence by the Awahuri–Buli’s Road to the Rangitikei River: and towards the north-west generally by the Rangitikei River to the Kawhatau Stream aforesaid.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
