THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

(hereinafter referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,--
- The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the third Monday in each month, at half-past seven o’clock p.m., at the Schoolhouse, Mangaweka, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the seventeenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
- Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.
- Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.
- The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the third Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.
- If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.
- If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.
- All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by the twenty-fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby order and declare that the reserves made for public recreation in the Wellington Land District, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be and the same are hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of “The Public Domains Act, 1881”; and such domains shall hereafter be managed, administered, and dealt with in manner directed by the said Act.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of March, 1899.

THE HONOURABLE JOHN MCKENZIE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the local authorities respectively mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto, being duly authorised by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” to appoint by special resolution, in the month of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, the days on which the shops in their respective districts are to be closed in accordance with the said Act, have failed so to appoint a day:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section ten of the said Act, do hereby appoint the days set opposite their respective names in the second column of the said Schedule to be the days on which shops shall be closed in the said districts, in accordance with the said Act.

Native Land proposed to be taken for the Construction of a Police-station at Te Whaiti, County of Whakatane.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of February, 1899.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the construction of a police-station at Te Whaiti, County of Whakatane:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown: And whereas a map has been prepared in duplicate showing accurately the position and extent of the said land, as required by the eighty-eighth section of “The Public Works Act, 1894”:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the eighty-eighth section of the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purposes of the said police-station as from the fifteenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
