At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day of March, 1899.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the local authorities of the Boroughs of Devonport, Foxton, Hampden, Palmerston North, Picton, Brunner, Green Island, and Kaitangata, being duly authorised by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” to appoint by special resolution, in the month of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, the days on which shops in the said boroughs are to be closed in accordance with the said Act, have failed so to appoint a day :
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section ten of the said Act, do hereby appoint Wednesday to be the day on which shops shall be closed in the said boroughs, in accordance with the said Act.

Additional Regulations under “The Municipal Franchise Reform Act, 1898.”

WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon him by “The Municipal Franchise Reform Act, 1898,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, did, on the eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, for the purposes of the aforesaid Act, make certain regulations (hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”), which were gazetted on the ninth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine: And whereas it is expedient to make further regulations for the purposes aforesaid :
Now, therefore, in further exercise of the aforesaid powers, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council aforesaid, doth hereby make the additional regulations hereinafter set forth, and doth hereby declare that they shall be read with and be deemed to form part of the principal regulations:—
REGULATIONS.
- The Town Clerk is liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds in every case where he refuses, or wilfully neglects, or unreasonably delays—
(1.) To place on the burgess list the name of any person who makes personal application or written claim for enrolment as provided by paragraph (c) or (d) of subclause (1) of clause 2 of the principal regulations; or
(2.) To faithfully and promptly perform any other duty imposed on him by the aforesaid Act or the principal regulations.
- If the Council refuses, or neglects, or unreasonably delays to keep at the Town Clerk’s Office a supply of blank printed claim-forms for the free use of claimants, as provided by subclause (3) of clause 2 of the principal regulations, or to faithfully and promptly perform any other duty imposed on it by the aforesaid Act or the principal regulations, every person (whether the Town Clerk or any member of the Council) who is party to or responsible for such refusal, neglect, or delay is severally liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds.

Land temporarily reserved in the Land District of Westland.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by the two hundred and thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land District of Westland described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose of commonages and resting-places for travelling stock.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 200 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 326, situate in Block XVI., Habuka Survey District. Bounded on the north by a line bearing 135°, distance 46 chains 52 links; and on the east by a line bearing 225°, distance 44 chains: on the south by a line bearing 315°, distance 46 chains 52 links; and on the west by road reserve along sea-coast by a bearing 45°, distance 44 chains: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika.
All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 100 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 327, situate in Block X., Okuru Survey District. Bounded on the north by a line bearing 121° 19′, distance 21 chains 60 links; on the east by a line bearing 211° 19′, distance 35 chains; on the south by a line bearing 301° 19′, distance 35 chains to eastern boundary of Cemetery Reserve, thence along the eastern boundary of said reserve bearing 31° 19′, distance 7 chains 2 links, thence along northern boundary of same reserve bearing 301° 19′, distance 5 chains 29 links; and on the north by road reserve along sea-coast, by a bearing 63° 40′, distance 33 chains 30 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika.
All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 200 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 328, situate in Block XIII., Arnott Survey District. Bounded on north and east by a road reserve along the southern bank of the Waita River for a distance of about 90 chains; on the south by a line bearing 307° 59′, distance 48 chains; and thence on the west by a road reserve along the eastern edge of the Waita Lagoon to starting point: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika.
All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 200 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 329, situate in Block IV., Matakitaki Survey District. Bounded on the north by a line bearing 135°, distance 51 chains 6 links from Trig. Station M.S.; on the east by a line bearing 225°, distance 40 chains; on the south by a line bearing 315°, distance 51 chains 6 links; and on the west by a line bearing 45°, distance 40 chains: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika.
All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 200 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 330, situate in Block X., Abbey Rocks Survey District. Bounded on the north by a line bearing 135°, distance 56 chains 70 links; on the east by Main South Road; on the south by a line bearing 315°, distance 50 chains; and on the west by a line bearing 45°, distance 43 chains: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika.
All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 200 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 331, situate in Block VII., Abbey Rocks Survey District. Bounded on the north by a line bearing 135°, distance 41 chains; on the east by a line bearing 225°, distance 50 chains; on the south by a line bearing 315°, distance 40 chains; and on the west by the eastern boundary of a road reserve along the Hall River to the starting-point: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika.
All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 200 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 332, situate in Block II., Mount Douglas Survey District. Bounded on the north by Main South Road; on the east by a road reserve along the south bank of Mahitahi River for a distance of 53 chains 50 links; on the south by a line bearing 270°, distance 64 chains 40 links; and on the west by a line bearing 360°, distance 35 chains, to starting-point: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika.
