HIS Excellency the Governor, by his Deputy, has been
pleased to appoint
HORATIO EVERETT
to be Town Clerk of the Borough of Motueka, as constituted
under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and also to
be Returning Officer for the purpose of conducting the first
election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough; also
to fix that the number of Councillors for the said borough
shall be six; also to appoint Monday, the 8th day of Janu-
ary, 1900, to be the day for holding the first election of
Mayor; also to appoint Wednesday, the 10th day of January,
1900, to be the day for holding the first election of six Coun-
cillors; also to appoint Wednesday, the 17th day of January,
1900, at 2 o’clock p.m., to be the time, and the Odd Fellows’
Hall, Motueka, to be the place, at which the first meeting of
the Borough Council of Motueka shall be held.

the Hawera County Council, is published in accord-
ance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1886.”

HAWERA COUNTY COUNCIL.
LOAN of £300, under the Provisions of “The Government
Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and the Amendments
thereof, for the Purpose of acquiring the Land for the
Construction of a Road from the Whareroa Road, via the
Tangahoe Valley, to the Kaitoke Road, in accordance with
Surveyed Plan, which may be inspected at the Council’s
Office, Hawera.
Notice is hereby given that the poll of ratepayers, taken
on the 27th instant, resulted as follows:—
Number of voters on roll, 4; number of votes exercisable,
9: Number of voters for proposal, 4; number of votes for
proposal, 9; number of voters and votes against proposal,
nil.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

ance with “The Timaru Harbour Board Loan Act, 1899.”

Timaru, 8th December, 1899.
SIR,—Proposal to borrow a further sum of £100,000 under
the provisions of “The Harbours Act, 1878,” and “The Ti-
maru Harbour Board Loan Act, 1899,” for the construction
of a rubble mole from the bend of the present breakwater to
form an eastern extension of the Timaru Harbour, and for
reclamation, erection of wharves and jetties, and generally
for the purposes stated in “The Timaru Harbour Board
Loan Act, 1899,” and that any portion of the interest on the
loan which the Harbour Fund shall be insufficient to pay
after providing for prior charges be secured by a rate on all
rateable property in the harbour district, or by the alloca-
tion of contributions from the local authorities in the said
district, as mentioned in section 11 of the Act last above
referred to: the said loan of £100,000 to be raised in such
sums as the Board in office from time to time may deter-
mine; the amount to be raised within the next two years
not to exceed £50,000:—
