ARAI ROAD BOARD.

I HEREBY give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers in the Tokonui Special District, taken on Saturday, the 4th day of November, 1899, upon a proposal by the Arai Road Board to raise a loan of £1,200, in terms of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the construction of the Tokonui Road, the following votes were recorded:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 9, capable of exercising 17 votes: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 5, exercising 11 votes; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, nil.

As a majority of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting exercised more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Clutha County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

COUNTY OF CLUTHA.

THE following is the result of the poll taken on the 14th September, 1899, on the proposal to borrow £3,000, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of metalling roads within the Pomahaka Riding:—

Number of ratepayers on the roll, 109, representing 168 votes: Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 102, representing 66 ratepayers; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 14, representing 6 ratepayers.

As a majority of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers within the Pomahaka Riding, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

to be the person to make up electors’ rolls for the Ridings of West and East Mauriceville, in the County of Mauriceville, as constituted under “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Mauriceville County Act, 1899”; also to be the Returning Officer to conduct the first elections of members of the Council of the said county; and also to be Clerk of the Mauriceville County Council for the purpose of presiding at the first meeting thereof.

Notice of the Laying-off of a Road through the Pukengahu Block, Ngaiere Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, in August, 1899, duly taken and laid off through the lands specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by warrant dated the 17th June, 1898.
