MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—HODDER SURVEY DISTRICT.
Pastoral License under Part VI. of “The Land Act, 1892.”
Run No. 16: Area, 15,000 acres; upset annual rental, £107; term, twenty-one years from 1st March, 1899.
Possession will be given on 1st April, 1899.
One half-year’s rent, and £1 1s. lease fee, must be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the necessary declaration furnished.

PURSUANT to section 215 of “The Land Act, 1892,” notice is hereby given to the following person that the under-mentioned pastoral license is liable to forfeiture, and that, if the rent overdue thereon be not paid within three months from the date hereof, the license will be declared forfeited.

Village-homestead Allotments, Southland, open for Lease upon Application.

Invercargill, 6th December, 1898.
THE under-mentioned Crown lands will be open for selection on lease in perpetuity, at this office, on Thursday, the 23rd day of February, 1899.
If more than one application is received for the same section on the same day, then the order of selection shall be decided by ballot on the following day, at 11 a.m.

These sections are part of abandoned sawmill area, the timber remaining being fit only for firewood. The soil is good black loam, with a little sand in some places. Distance from Invercargill, about eight miles, by fairly good road. Limit of holdings in this village, 50 acres.
Conditions of Lease.
- The lands enumerated above are first-class lands, and are village-homestead allotments, open for selection on lease in perpetuity under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”).
- The day on which the lands shall be open for selection shall be Thursday, the 23rd day of February, 1899.
- The rentals stated above shall be the price at which the lands shall be open for selection.
- Applications for leases shall be made in manner as provided in Part I. of the said Act; and all such applications shall be made to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Invercargill; and leases will be issued in accordance with the provisions of Part I. aforesaid.
- Each applicant shall state his or her residence, occupation, and condition in life (namely, whether married or single), and will be required to make the declaration prescribed in Schedule C of the said Act.
- Each applicant shall pay the first half-year’s rent, together with the lease- and registration-fee, immediately the application has been approved or declared successful at the ballot.
- All rents must be paid half-yearly, in advance, on the 1st days of January and July in each year, as provided in section 157 of the said Act; and the first half-year’s rent is payable as before provided.
- Improvements and residence on the land comprised in each lease shall be as provided in Part III. of the said Act.
The provisions of section 144, and all other provisions of the said Act with respect to substantial improvements, shall apply accordingly to lessees under these regulations. The provisions of section 141, and all other provisions of the said Act in respect of compulsory residence, shall apply accordingly to lessees under these regulations.
9. No lessee shall subdivide, sublet, or transfer the land held by him under these regulations, except under and subject to the provisions of Part I. of the said Act.
10. No lessee shall hold more than the limit prescribed above, and all allotments shall be held for his or her sole use and benefit, and not for the use or benefit of any other person whomsoever. No married woman shall be eligible as a selector; but this provision shall not apply to any married woman who may become a transferee under a will or by virtue of an intestacy.
11. All the provisions of the said Act, so far as applicable, shall extend and apply to the lands affected by these regulations, and to the applications and leases to be made and issued thereunder, and generally to the interests created, and the persons whose rights, liabilities, or interests are thereby affected; and the mention of any particular provision of the said Act shall not be deemed to exclude any other provision of the said Act applicable to the particular case.

Village-homestead Allotment in Nelson open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

THE under-mentioned village-homestead allotment will be open for selection on lease in perpetuity at this office on Wednesday, 14th December, 1898.
If more than one application be received upon the same day, then the order of selection shall be decided by ballot on the following day, at 11 a.m.

The above section is loaded with £10 for value of improvements, which consist of two small buildings. The section has been cleared and grassed with the exception of a little shelter-bush.

Reserves in Akaroa County, Canterbury, for Lease by Public Tender.

NOTICE is hereby given, under section 23 of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” that written tenders for the lease of the under-mentioned reserves for terms of seven years will be received up to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the 14th December, 1898.
Tenders must be enclosed in sealed envelopes, addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, and marked on the outside “Tender for Reserve ,” and must be accompanied by a post-office order, or by bank draft, or cheque marked “Correct for fourteen days” by the bank on which it is drawn, for the amount of one year’s rent of the reserve at the rate tendered, together with a lease-fee of £1 1s.
The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
AKAROA COUNTY.
Reserve 151, Okain’s Bay: Area, 2 roods 32 perches; upset rental per annum, £2.
Reserve 160, Okain’s Bay: Area, 3 acres 1 rood 21 perches; upset rental per annum, £3 7s. 8d.
Reserve 169, Petit Carenage Bay, Akaroa Harbour: Area, 10 acres; upset rental per annum, £2 10s.
NOTE.—Reserve 169 is let subject to the right of the public to use the same for landing purposes.
