Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the fifth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Flat land covered with tea-tree, about three miles from Te Kopuru; water can be obtained by sinking. Subject to £20 for trenching, ditching, and two-roomed house.
Open undulating land, about half a mile from Swanson Railway-station. Subject to loading for improvements as follows: Section 179A, £25 for store-shed, stable, and outhouse; Section 180, £50 for house, orchard, grassing, and sheds.
Open land close to Waitakerei Railway-station. Subject to £150 for house, orchard, and fencing.
Subject to £132 for cottage, shed, stable, 100 chains fencing, 40 acres grassing, orchard, and shelter-trees.

FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Forest land with fair soil, well watered. Distant thirty-four miles from Wairoa.
Undulating bush land, covered with tawa, matai, &c.; good soil. About six miles from Awanui, and close to the Awanui–Kawakawa Inland Road.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Hilly country covered with light bush; well watered; medium soil. Distant about twenty-five miles from Gisborne by a dray-road.
