Section 2, Block VI., Aohanga, is situated on the Huia Road, the access being from Rakaunui, which is about nine miles distant by horse-track along the Huia and Waikereru Roads. The area comprises undulating land, with about 15 acres of flat land, including a good homestead-site. The soil is clay, and of good quality, resting on papa formation. The forest is principally heavy manuka scrub; there is also a little light rewarewa. The section is well watered by the Huia Stream.
Section 9, Block VI., Aohanga, is situated about ten miles from Rakaunui by horse-track along the Huia and Waikereru Roads. The area comprises undulating land, with about 10 acres of flat, and two homestead-sites. The soil is clay, and of good quality, resting on papa formation. The forest is composed of heavy manuka scrub.
Section 14, Block VI., Aohanga, is situated on the Wai-o-weka Road, the access being from Rakaunui, which is about twelve miles distant by a horse-track along the Huia, Waikereru, and Wai-o-weka Roads. The area comprises hilly land, with about 20 acres of flat, and an excellent homestead-site on the Wai-o-weka Stream. The soil is clay, and of good quality, resting on papa formation. The forest is of a mixed character, comprising matai, totara, rimu, and kahikatea, with an undergrowth of kowhai, rangiora, and heavy manuka scrub. The section is watered by the Wai-o-weka Stream. The section is weighted with £27 for improvements, comprising 18 acres in grass.

Section 28, Block IV., Puketoi, is situated on the Alfredton-Weber Road, the access being from Rakaunui, where there is a post-office, school, store, &c., which is about two miles distant by a formed road. Makuri Township is about fifteen miles distant by dray-road and horse-track, and Eketahuna and Pahiatua Railway-stations are distant about thirty-five miles by a formed dray-road, which is partly metalled. The area comprises hilly land. The access to the road is rendered difficult owing to the creek intervening. The soil is clayey, of fair quality, and resting on papa formation. The forest, which is of a mixed character, is composed of rimu, rata, hinau, tawa, and a few totara-trees, and an undergrowth of supplejack, &c. The section is watered by a creek. On the road-frontage of this section a large slip has occurred near the boundary of Section 8, exposing a straight papa face of about 20 feet. An area of about 4 acres is moving bodily towards the creek.

Section 18, Block III., Puketoi, is situated on the Hutewai Road, about three miles from its junction with the Alfredton-Weber Road, from which it is easily accessible for horse or dray. The Alfredton-Weber Road is formed and partially metalled, and leads to Eketahuna. The area comprises undulating land, with about 20 acres of flat. The soil is clay, resting on papa formation. The forest is of a mixed character, and comprises rimu, kahikatea, matai, tawa, rata, hinau, maire, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is well watered by the Tiraumea Stream. This section is weighted with £12 for improvements, comprising 17 acres of bush felled and grassed some years ago, and now overgrown with scrub; and also 20 chains of post-and-wire fence, which is out of repair.
Section 3, Block IV., Puketoi, is situated at the junction of the Hutewai and Pahiatua-Aohanga Roads, about three miles and a half from Rakaunui by a formed horse-track; it is also about eight miles and a half from Makuri by a formed horse-track. The area comprises rough hilly land, with rough frontage, and no good homestead-site. The soil is of good quality, resting on a papa formation. The forest is of a mixed character, and comprises tawa, rata, rimu, kahikatea, matai, hinau, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is well watered by numerous small streams. The improvements comprise about 2 acres of bush felled on the roadside, but not properly burned or grassed.

Section 2, Block X., Kaitawa. The access to this section is from the Waikanae Railway-station, which is about two miles and a half distant by a good dray-road, which is metalled most of the distance. The area comprises flat land, with soil of good quality, resting on a shingle formation. The forest, which is of a mixed character, comprises small rimu, miro, matai, tawa, &c., with the usual undergrowth. All the milling timber has been cut. The section is watered by the Waikanae River.

Section 2, Block XVI., Apiti, is situated on the Makiekie Road, the access being from Ashhurst, which is about nineteen miles distant, via the Pohangina Valley and the Makiekie Roads, fifteen miles of which distance is a formed dray-road, and the rest of the distance a partly formed bridle-track and partly a rough pack-track. The section comprises hilly bush country, with from 30 to 40 acres of flat land in the middle of the section. The soil is of good quality, and rests on a papa formation. The forest is heavy throughout, and comprises rewa, matai, rata, tawa, &c., with a thick undergrowth of the usual kind. The section is watered by small streams and by the Coal Creek, which forms the north-west boundary. The elevation ranges from about 500 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.

Section 1, Block IV., Umutoi, is situated on the Conspicuous Road North, and has access from Apiti, which is about twelve miles and a half distant via the Main, Table Flat, and Umutoi Roads, about six miles of the distance being a formed dray-road, five miles a formed horse-track, and the rest a road which is surveyed only. The area comprises broken hilly land, with a soil of good quality resting on papa formation. The forest is of a mixed character, comprising rimu, miro, matai, &c., and birch on the ridges, and the usual undergrowth. The section is well watered.
Section 3, Block IV., Umutoi, is situated on the Umutoi Road, the access being from Apiti, which is about eleven miles distant via the Main, Table Flat, and Umutoi Roads; about six miles of this distance is formed for dray traffic, and the rest is a formed bridle-track. The section, generally speaking, comprises hilly forest country, with some undulating land in the south-east corner, and some flat land on the northern portion near the Conspicuous Road. The soil rests on papa formation, and is of medium quality. The forest is heavy throughout, comprising rimu, rata, matai, birch, &c., with a thick undergrowth of the usual kind. The section is well watered by small streams and the Scandlyn Creek. The elevation ranges from about 1,800 ft. to about 2,000 ft. above sea-level. This section is weighted with £22 10s. for improvements, comprising about 10 acres felled and grassed.
