Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

Proclaiming Portions of a Road as closed under Section 13 of “The Land Act, 1892.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a notice of even date herewith a road has been proclaimed upon private lands in Glenomaru Survey District, with the consent of the owners of such lands, and with the consent of the Clutha County Council, being the local authority in whose district the said lands are situated: And whereas by reason of such notice the portions of road mentioned in the Schedule hereto are not now required:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, with the like consent as aforesaid, do by this notice hereby proclaim as closed the portions of road in Glenomaru Survey District mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Appointment of Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices by Telegraph.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by “The Electric Lines Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and by the regulations made thereunder on the 25th March, 1895, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 4th April, 1895, the following officers, at the addresses respectively set against their names, are hereby appointed Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorised to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid :—

Officer under “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,” Wellington District, appointed.

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section 9 of “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,”

EDWARD MOON, of Hunterville,

has been appointed an officer for the purposes of that Act for the Counties of Hutt, Horowhenua, Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, Pahiatua, Oroua, Manawatu, Kiwitea, Pohangina, and Rangitikei, and for all the town districts and boroughs within the said counties.

Member of Military Examination Board appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointment of

Lieut.-Colonel WILLIAM MONTAGU MOORE,

commanding the South Canterbury Battalion of Infantry Volunteers, to be an additional member of the Examination Board for the Canterbury District, for the examination of candidates for commissions in the New Zealand Forces, vice Captain James Edward Stokes Jackson, transferred to Honorary Unattached List. Appointment to date from the 17th May, 1898.
