A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the second section of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1891” (herein termed “the said Act”), it is, amongst other things, enacted that, before certain moneys therein mentioned shall be expended upon any block of land, it shall be necessary that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the purposes of the said Act, I, James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly appointed Deputy, do hereby proclaim the block of land described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.
SCHEDULE.
TOKATOKA BLOCK.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in Blocks X., XI., XII., XV., and XVI., Tokatoka Survey District, containing by admeasurement 12,096 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north-east by Sections Nos. 86 and 87 of the Parish of Tokatoka, and by a public road; towards the east generally by Sections Nos. 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4 of the Parish of Omaru, by Sections Nos. 1 of Block XII. and 2 of Block XVI., Tokatoka Survey District, by a road 100 links wide running along the right bank of the Awaroa Stream, by a right line running due west from the junction of the Kumengatea and Awaroa Streams to its intersection with a right line being the production in a southerly direction of the western boundary of Section No. 2 of Block XVI., Tokatoka Survey District aforesaid, and by that line to the southern boundary-line of Tokatoka Survey District; towards the south by that boundary-line; towards the south-west by a road running along the left bank of the Wairoa River; and towards the north-west generally by the road which forms the northern boundary of Sections Nos. 1 and 4 of Block XV., by the road which forms the western boundary of Sections Nos. 37, 35, and 33 of Block XI., by Section No. 2 of Block X., by the road which forms the north-western boundary of Sections Nos. 10 and 4, by Section No. 1, by the road which forms the north-western boundary of Sections Nos. 6 and 7, and by Section No. 8, all of Block X. aforesaid, across and by a public road, by Section No. 8 of Block XI., across and by a public road, by Sections Nos. 21 and 4 of Block XI., by a public road, and by Section No. 3 of Block XI., Tokatoka Survey District: as the said area is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 17661, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with red.
Given under the hand of Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, for and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, and as his duly appointed Deputy in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

Proclaiming the Taking of a Road upon Private Lands in Glenomaru Survey District.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, with the consent of the owners of the lands hereinafter mentioned, and with the consent of the Clutha County Council, being the local authority in whose district the said lands are situated, do by this notice hereby proclaim as a road the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
ERRATUM.—In the notice of the appointment of officers to command military districts, published in New Zealand Gazette, No. 35, of the 12th May, 1898, page 804, for “Captain John Edward Hawkins, Southland Mounted Rifle Volunteers, as Officer commanding the Sub-district of North Otago,” read “Captain John Edward Hawkins, Southland Mounted Rifle Volunteers, as Officer commanding the Sub-district of Southland.”
