THE following resolutions, passed by the Legislative Council and the House of Representatives, are published in accordance with section 238 of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Resolved, That the report of the Waste Lands Committee on Paper No. 23 of 1897, presented on the 7th October, be agreed to.*

  • The Waste Lands Committee have the honour to report that they have carefully considered Legislative Council Paper No. 23 of 1897, and they see no objection to the land noted therein being reserved for education purposes.

Resolved, That this House approves of the lands proposed to be reserved as endowments for primary education, as set forth in Paper No. 26, laid upon the table on the 23rd September, 1897, being permanently set aside as endowments for primary education.

Special Order made by the Council of the County of Cook, altering Boundaries of the Waikohu Road District and Tolago Riding.

THE following special order, made by the Cook County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886.”

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.

A SPECIAL ORDER made by the Cook County Council on Friday, 27th August, 1897.

(1.) RESOLVED, That the boundaries of the Waikohu Road District be amended by extending the northern boundaries to the southern boundary of Huiarua No. 1 Block, and to include parts of Waipara No. 2 and Mangatu No. 2, and parts of Mangatu Nos. 5 and 6 Blocks and Waipara No. 1 Block; as the same are more particularly defined in the Schedule hereto attached.

(2.) Resolved, That the Waikohu Road District, as amended this day, and the Ngatapa Road District form the Waikohu Riding of Cook County.

(3.) Resolved, That the northern boundary of the Tolago Riding of Cook County be amended by ceding to Waiapu County Sections 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 23, Tauwhareparae, and making the southern boundaries of Sections 18, 19, 20, 23, 11, and 8 form the northern boundary of Tolago Riding; as the same are more particularly described in the Schedule hereto.

These alterations are made consequent upon the amendment of the northern boundary of the County of Cook, as defined in Gazette No. 63, 22nd July, 1897, pages 1340, 1341.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and inhabitants of the County of Cook was hereto affixed in the presence of

I certify that the foregoing special order was made in accordance with law, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on 29th October, 1897, and that all the requirements of the Counties Act have been complied with.

Waikohu Road District (Amended Boundaries).

ALL that area in Cook County, in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, bounded towards the north-east generally by Huiarua and Huiarua No. 1 Blocks, by the Tauwhareparae Blocks (Gisborne Harbour Board endowment), and the Tutamoe Block, to a right line drawn between Trig. Stations 178 (Tutamoe) and 170 (Tangihanga), and thence by a right line to Trig. Station 170 aforesaid: thence towards the east generally by a right line to Trig. Station No. 168; thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 134 and by a right line from the last-mentioned Trig. Station to the north-western corner of Run No. 58; thence by the northern, western, and south-western boundaries of Run No. 44, by Section No. 22, Block III., Waimata Survey District, Sections Nos. 15 and 15a, Block II., and Section No. 16, Block VI., Waimata Survey District; thence by the eastern and south-eastern
