Officers under “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,” Otago District, appointed.

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section 9 of “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,”
HENRY SCOTT, of Middlemarch;
THOMAS ESTERN EMPIRE JEF COATE, of Puerua;
SAMUEL McINTOSH, of Wakaka; and
ANDREW JOHNSON MCKENZIE, of Dunedin,
have been appointed Officers for the purposes of that Act for all that area in the Provincial District of Otago bounded on the east and south by the ocean from Shag Point to the mouth of the Mataura River; on the north-west by Lake County; on the west and south-west by the Mataura River; and on the north, north-west, and north-east by the Counties of Westland and Waitaki.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Masterton.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Masterton, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Borough of Masterton Water-supply and Drainage-works Loan Empowering Act, 1896,” and “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

Sir,—I have the honour to give you notice of the result of the poll for raising a loan of £15,000 over a special rating-area within the Borough of Masterton, under “The Borough of Masterton Water-supply and Drainage-works Loan Empowering Act, 1896,” as follows:—
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 249; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 153; number of informal votes, 11.
As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal was not less than three-fifths of the total number of votes given at the poll for and against the proposal, I have declared the said proposal to be carried.

I, Charles Aylmer Pownall, of Masterton, Solicitor, and Mayor of Masterton, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all the proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses to the proposal to raise a loan of £15,000 under “The Borough of Masterton Water-supply and Drainage-works Loan Empowering Act, 1896,” have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
