NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-
RACE.
Tuapeka District, 12th June, 1897.
To the Warden at Lawrence.
I HEREBY give notice that I intend to construct a water-
race to divert and use water for mining purposes, com-
mencing at a point at a creek on Section 19, Block VIII.,
Tuapeka West, about 20 chains north of Rankleburn Punt,
and terminating at my claim, 5 chains from Rankleburn
Punt site.
The length of such race is 15 chains or thereabouts,
and its intended course is north and south.
The mean depth of such race is 1 ft. 6 in., and the mean
breadth is 2 ft. 6in.; and it is proposed to divert two
Government heads of water.
Marked by pegs marked X.
Cost of construction: Β£15.
Time required for construction: Six weeks.
Number and date of miner's right: No. 651 (duplicate);
13th May, 1897.

at Lawrence within fourteen clear days from the date

"The Companies Act, 1882," that a General Meeting
of members of the above company will be held at my office,
Havelock Street, Ashburton, on Thursday, the 16th day of
September, 1897, at 2 p.m., for the purpose of having an
account laid before them showing how the property of the
company has been disposed of, and also to hear any explana-
tion that may be given by the Liquidator.

PATANGATA COUNTY COUNCIL.
AMENDMENT TO BY-LAW No. 3.
THE following by-law was duly confirmed signed, and
sealed at a meeting of the Patangata County Council
held on Wednesday, 9th December, 1896:-
"The provisions of By-law No. 3, regulating the width
of wheel-tires and the power to be used in drawing
certain classes of vehicles upon the Weber--Wimble-
don Road, are hereby extended so as to apply to all
that portion of the Wimbledon-Herbertville Road
between the boundary of the Weber Road District
and the sea-beach at the Township of Herbert-
ville.
"This amendment to By-law No. 3 shall come into
force on the 1st day of January, 1897."
