PATANGATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

BY-LAW No. 4.

IN pursuance of the provisions contained in "The Counties Act, 1886," and in "The Public Works Act, 1894," the Council of the County of Patangata do hereby make and ordain the following by-law, which shall come into force on the 1st day of January, 1896 :—

In this by-law the term "horse" shall mean and include any stallion, mare, gelding, filly, colt, or foal; and the term "cattle" shall mean and include any bull, cow, steer, heifer, or calf, and any ram, ewe, wether, or lamb.

Any person who shall drive any vehicle across or upon the traffic bridge spanning the Porangahau River at Porangahau at any pace faster than that of a walk—

Any person who shall ride, drive, or lead any cattle or horse across or upon the aforesaid bridge at any pace faster than that of a walk—

Shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5 (five pounds) for every such offence.

The seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and inhabitants of the County of Patangata was hereto affixed on the 11th day of December, 1895, by the undersigned.

PATANGATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

BY-LAW No. 5.

IN pursuance of the provisions contained in "The Counties Act, 1886," and in "The Public Works Act, 1894," the Council of the County of Patangata do hereby make and ordain the following by-law, which shall come into force on the 1st day of September, 1897 :—

Any person who shall at any time drive, or cause or permit to be driven, any traction-engine weighing more than five tons, and driven by steam power, or any portable steam- or oil-engine, dray, wagon, or cart, weighing respectively more than five tons each, whether loaded or unloaded, and drawn by horses or bullocks, over or across any bridge or culvert on any of the following roads in the County of Patangata, that is to say,—

  1. The Wanstead-Porangahau Road from the boundary of the Waipawa and Patangata Counties to the Township of Porangahau;
  2. The Porangahau-Wimbledon Road;
  3. The Tamumu-Pourere Road;
  4. The Patangata-Kairakau Road;
  5. The Kaikora-Patangata Road via Homewood Bridge;
  6. The Kaikora-Tamumu Road;
  7. The Patangata-Tamumu Road;
  8. The Waipawa-Tamumu Road,—

shall, upon conviction thereof before any two Justices of the Peace, be liable to a fine not exceeding five pounds (£5) for every such offence.

The seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and inhabitants of the County of Patangata was hereunto affixed on the 9th day of June, 1897, by the undersigned.

In the matter of "The Companies Act, 1882," and of D. Henderson and Co. (Limited).

NOTICE is hereby given that a petition for the winding-up of the above-named company by the Supreme Court was, on the 20th day of July, 1897, presented to his Honour Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, by Alexander Burnett, of Masterton, Sawmiller, a creditor of the said company; and the said petition is directed to be heard before a Judge of the said Court, at Wellington, on the 3rd day of August, 1897; and any creditor or contributory of the said company desirous to oppose the making of an order for the winding-up of the said company under the above Act should appear at the time of hearing, by himself or his counsel, for that purpose; and a copy of the petition will be furnished to any creditor or contributory of the said company requiring the same, by the undersigned, on payment of the regulated charge for the same.
