They are one mile distant from the main road, and about thirty-two miles from Eketahuna Railway-station. The soil is of fair quality, is clayey on a papa formation, and is covered with mixed forest, consisting chiefly of rimu, rata, tawa, &c. The country is undulating. Section 9, Block IV., is situated on the Alfredton-Weber Road, about equally distant from the post-office at either Waterfalls or Rakaunui, and thirty-three miles from the railway-station at Eketahuna. Access to the road is rendered difficult by the creek that runs the length of the frontage. The section is more or less hilly or broken. The soil is of fair quality, covered with the usual bush of rimu, miro, hinau, tawa, rata, &c., and a little totara. There are 3 acres in grass and 4 acres felled, and a whare has been built on the section.

The 6ft. track is formed to within three miles of the section; the present approach is then by a rough pack-track chiefly through private property. The soil is clayey, on a limestone and papa formation, and is well watered. The bush, which is heavy, consists of rata, kahikatea, rimu, miro, hinau, tawa, &c., with dense undergrowth of supplejack, &c. There is a considerable area of flat land towards the back, estimated at 40 to 50 acres. The frontage is rather hilly.
