wards the north-east by Allotment No. 9 of the same village,
275 links; towards the south-east by a public road, 114 and
626 links; towards the south-west by a public road, 475 and
202 links; and towards the north-west by a public road, 286
links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid
linkages more or less. For a public-school site.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
being Section No. 456 of the Parish of Taupiri, and con-
taining by admeasurement 19 acres 1 rood 24 perches,
more or less. Bounded towards the north by Section
No. 481 of the Parish of Taupiri, 2385 links; towards the
north-east by said Section No. 481 and Section No. 457 of
the same parish, 1706 links; towards the south-east by the
Mangawhara River; towards the south-west by the Manga-
whara River and by the Great South Road, 50, 132, 329,
1091, 251, and 374 links; and towards the north-west by Sec-
tion No. 445 of the Parish of Taupiri aforesaid, 243 links, to
the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less: save and except that part of the Kaipara-
Waikato Railway which intersects the area hereinbefore
described. For a cemetery for use of aboriginal natives.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
being Section No. 138 of the Parish of Awhitu, and con-
taining by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less. Bounded
towards the north-east by a public road, 537, 458, 510, and
276 links; towards the south-east by Section No. 136 of the
Parish of Awhitu, 1078 links; towards the south-west by the
same section, 1482 links; and towards the north-west by
the same section, 389 links, to the point of commencement:
be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a public
cemetery.

NELSON.
All that parcel of land in the Nelson Land District con-
taining by admeasurement 6 acres 2 roods 20 perches, more
or less, being Section No. 27, Block XIII., Hawkswood Survey
District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 26, 1107
links; towards the east by a public road, 800 links; towards
the south and south-west by a public road, 591 links, 175
links, 329 links, and 260 links; and towards the west by
Section No. 22, 229 links: excepting and excluding a drainage
reserve, 50 links wide, which partially crosses the said section:
be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is de-
lineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Sur-
veyor, Nelson. As a resting-place for travelling stock.
All that parcel of land in the Nelson Land District, con-
taining by admeasurement 42 acres, more or less, being
Section No. 33, Block VIII., Kaiteriteri Survey District.
Bounded towards the north by Section 1 of 17, 900 links;
towards the north-east by a public road along high-water
mark of the Kaiteriteri Inlet; towards the east by Section
No. 34, 1067 links; towards the south by Section No. 34,
2994 links; and towards the west by Section No. 101, 1812
links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the
same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the
Chief Surveyor, Nelson. For a public recreation-ground.

CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District,
containing by admeasurement 5 acres 2 roods, more or less,
being Section No. 3181 in red, Block XIII., Ashburton Sur-
vey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the south-
east town belt of the Town of Ashburton; towards the north-
east by the terrace forming the south-western boundaries of
Sections Nos. 4873 and 4883; and towards the south-west by
the River Ashburton: as the same is delineated on the plan
deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch.
For river-protective purposes.

Altering Regulations for the Examination of Surveyors under
*"The Land Act, 1892."

In pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the fourth section of "The Land
Act, 1892," I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of
the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby alter the regulations for the examination of sur-
veyors, under "The Land Act, 1892," dated the twenty-

sixth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of
the fifth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-six, as follows—that is to say, in lieu of the per-
sons forming the Board of Examiners described in section
one of the said regulations, the Board of Examiners shall,
from the date hereof, consist of the following persons for
the time being holding the offices of—
The Surveyor-General,
The Assistant Surveyor-General,
The Chief Surveyor for the Land District of Wellington,
The Chief Surveyor for the Land District of Hawke's
Bay,
The Chief Surveyor for the Land District of Nelson,
The Chief Surveyor for the Land District of Canterbury.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Adminis-
trator of the Government, this seventeenth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
seven.

Resuming Land in Leaning Rock Survey District as a Reserve
for Experimental Purposes in Connection with Fruit-culture
or other like Industry.

WHEREAS by the twenty-fourth section of "The
Reserves and Crown Lands Disposal and Enabling
Act, 1896," it is enacted that the Governor may, by Gazette
notice, resume possession of Section No. 72, Block I., Lean-
ing Rock Survey District, Land District of Otago, containing
one hundred and forty-five acres three roods four perches,
more or less, and that from and after the date of the
gazetting of such notice the said land shall be deemed to be
a reserve for experimental purposes in connection with fruit-
culture or other like industry:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator
of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested
in me by the hereinbefore in part recited provision of
the said Act, do hereby notify and declare that I hereby
resume Section No. 72, Block I., Leaning Rock Survey
District, Land District of Otago, containing one hundred
and forty-five acres three roods four perches, more or less,
as a reserve for experimental purposes in connection with
fruit-culture or other like industry.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Adminis-
trator of the Government, this seventeenth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-seven.

Notifying Lands in Wellington for Sale by Public Auction.

In pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of
"The Land Act, 1892," I, James Prendergast, the Adminis-
trator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint Wednesday, the twelfth day of May, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, as the time at
which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be
sold by public auction at Palmerston North; and I do
hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold
as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.
