Member of Oamaru Harbour Board appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has, in pursuance of the
power conferred upon him by section 41 of “The
Harbours Act, 1878,” and of all other powers enabling him
in that behalf, appointed
JOHN MOLLOY
to be a member of the Oamaru Harbour Board for the
riding of Hakateramea, a part of the County of Waimate,
the county electors of that riding having neglected to elect
a member of the Board in the place of Thomas Meek, who
forfeited his seat through non-attendance at the meetings
of the Board.

Westport Harbour Board Act, 1884,” and of section 40 of
“The Harbours Act, 1878,” appointed

Westport Harbour Board, in place of Hans Larsen and

Southland Mounted Rifle Volunteers, as an additional mem-
ber of the local Board for the examination of candidates
for commissions in the New Zealand Defence Forces, for the
Southland District.

THE following special order, made by the Manchester
Road Board, is published in accordance with the
provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MANCHESTER ROAD BOARD.
THAT this Board, under the provisions of “The Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and under and by virtue of a
warrant issued under the hand of His Excellency the
Governor of New Zealand, and dated the 7th day of
September, 1897, authorising the Manchester Road Board
to rebuild a portion and repair a bridge over the Oroua
River at Aorangi, and apportioning the cost of the same,
borrow a sum of £604 3s. 4d. for the purpose of providing
this Board's share of the cost of the same, in accordance
with the above-mentioned warrant; and that a special rate of
½d. in the pound be hereby made upon the rateable value of
the whole of the rateable property (Crown and Native land
excepted) within the Manchester Road District for the pur-
pose of providing interest on the above loan of £604 3s. 4d.,
to be borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local
Bodies Act, 1886,” such rate to be annually recurring for
twenty-six years, and payable at the Board's office, in equal
half-yearly instalments, on the 1st day of April and October
in each year.
I hereby certify that the above special order has been
made and confirmed by the Manchester Road Board in ac-
cordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act,
1882,” as provided by section 76.

THE following special orders, made by the Waimate
Road Board, are published in accordance with the
provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

WAIMATE ROAD BOARD.
SPECIAL ORDERS re Proposed Loan of £10,000 for the Cen-
tral Subdivision, and the Manai'a Road £450 loan.
THAT, to secure repayment of a loan of £10,000, and interest
thereon, raised under “The Government Loans to Local
Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, for the purpose of
constructing the following works within the Central Sub-
division of the Waimate Road District—viz., forming and
metalling the Aurora, Skeet, and Manai'a Roads; forming and
metalling the Rowan, Glenn, Mangawhero, Rama, Taikatu,
and Oeo Roads; the Palmer Road, from the Skeet Road
north, a distance of 80 chains; the Neil Road, from the
Manai'a Road east, a distance of 60 chains; to bridge the
Otakeho and Mangawhero Streams on the Skeet Road; and
to repay to the Colonial Treasurer all liabilities re the Skeet
Road £650 loan, and one-half of the Oeo Road £850 loan—
a special annual recurring rate of 1 7/10d. in the pound be
made and levied, for a period of twenty-six years, over the
whole of the central subdivision of the Waimate Road Dis-
trict, comprising Blocks XIII., XIV., and XV., Kaupokonui
Survey District. Such rate to be payable, if required, in
one instalment, on the 1st day of January in each year
of the aforesaid period.
That, to secure repayment of a loan of £45, and interest
thereon, being an additional advance of 10 per cent. on the
Manai'a Road £450 loan, raised under “The Government
Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1896,” and its amendments, for
the purpose of forming and metalling the Upper Manai'a
Road from the termination of the metal (above the Kaponga
Village Settlement) northwards to the Stratford County
boundary, a special annual-recurring rate of ⅛d. in the
pound be made and levied for a period of twenty-six years
over the Upper Manai'a Road Special Rating-area, com-
prising the following sections: 81, 84, 87, 103 to 106,
Block XI.; 2, 3, 4, 10, 12, 13, 14, 44, 45, 47, 48, Kaponga
Village Settlement, Block XI.; all in the Kaupokonui Sur-
vey District. Such rate to be payable, if required, in one
instalment, on the 1st day of January in each year of the
aforesaid period.
I certify that the above special orders were duly made in
accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

Special Order made by the Egmont Road Board, County
of Taranaki.

THE following special order, made by the Egmont Road
Board, is published in accordance with the provisions
of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Egmont Road Board at a
Special Meeting held on the 18th December, 1897.
THAT, for the purpose of providing interest and other annual
charges on a loan of £100, to form and metal the Kaipi
Road, commencing at its junction with the Egmont Road,
in the Moa Road District, and making the road continuously
to a point about 45 chains in a westerly direction, under
“The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1886,” “The Government
Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and Acts amending the
same, a special rate of 1 1/10d. in the pound on the rate-
able value be made and levied on the following sections,
constituting the Kaipi Road Special Rating-area—viz., Part
Section 48 (348 acres), part Section 48 (40 acres), each
contained in the Hua and Waiwakaiho District, Paritutu
Survey District, County of Taranaki—such rate to be an
annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and payable in
two equal instalments on the 1st day of the months of
January and July in each year; the first year's interest
and cost of raising the loan to be paid out of the loan.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of special
order that has been duly made and passed by the Egmont
Road Board, as required by the Road Boards Act.
