Rural Lands in the Southland Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894,” and the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said one hundred and thirty-sixth section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-sixth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, and that the said lands may be selected on lease in perpetuity, subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892”; and I do hereby declare that the rentals at which the said lands shall be leased shall be those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor by the Native owner of the land described in the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such land contained in the Crown grant bearing date the seventeenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, and now contained in partition order of the Native Land Court bearing date the twenty-ninth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has recommended that such restrictions be removed:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the fifty-second section of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and in accordance with the recommendation of the Native Land Court, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant and partition order on the alienation of the said land are hereby removed.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land, containing 18 acres, situate in the Provincial District of Auckland, known as Allotment No. 158a, Parish of Manurewa, held under partition order of the Native Land Court dated 29th August, 1895, in favour of Tame Panapa, and containing the following restrictions: “Inalienable, except with the consent of the Governor, by sale, gift, or mortgage, or by lease for a longer period than twenty-one years.”

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

Waitaki-Waimate Acclimatisation District defined.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint those parts of the said colony described in the Schedule hereto to be a district under the said “Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and I do further appoint such district to be known by the name of “The Waitaki-Waimate Acclimatisation District.”

SCHEDULE.

WAITAKI-WAIMATE ACCLIMATISATION DISTRICT.

THE Counties of Waitaki and Waimate, and that portion of the County of Mackenzie lying to the west of a line commencing at Mount Cook, and proceeding by a right line over the Ball Hut to the Tasman Glacier, thence along the western boundary of the Tasman Glacier to the Tasman River, thence by a line along the middle of that river, and the middle of Lake Pukaki, and the middle of the Pukaki River, to the Waitaki River; together with the Boroughs of Hampden, Oamaru, and Waimate.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

Trustees for Mataura Cemetery appointed.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the forty-fifth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the local authority specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto to have the control and management of the public cemetery specified in the second column of the said Schedule, in the place of William Pryde, James Pollock, John Gray, Thomas Palmer, and Thomas MacGibbon, who have resigned their appointments as Trustees of the said cemetery.

All that parcel of land in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, being Section No. 77, Block XVII., Town of Mataura Bridge. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 1; towards the east by a road-line; towards the south by Block III., Tuturau District; and towards the west by Section No. 13 of said Block XVII.
