THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

  1. A water-race, with a right to divert one-half of one Government head of water, commencing at a point in a creek running through the Eweburn Township Reserve, and terminating about 20 chains south of that point, on the boundary of the Eweburn State Forest Nursery; length, about 50 chains.

  2. A dam on the Eweburn Township Reserve, about 2 chains north of the Eweburn State Forest Nursery.

  3. A dam on the Eweburn Township Reserve, about 1 chain distant from the north-east corner of the Eweburn State Forest Nursery.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve in Canterbury.


GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case of any reserves made under the authority of section two hundred and twenty-seven of “The Land Act, 1885,” if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto from that named therein to that named in the second column of the said Schedule respectively.


SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Original Reserve. Intended Purpose.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, being Reserve No. 1922, situate in the bed of the Rakaia River, containing by admeasurement 636 acres (more or less). Reserved for railway-conservation purposes by warrant in Gazette No. 84, of the 11th October, 1877. River-conservation purposes.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

Rural Land in the Canterbury Land District withdrawn from Sale or Selection.


GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that from and after the day of the date hereof the notification issued on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, opening land for sale or selection under the provisions of Part III. of “The Land Act, 1892,” shall be and the same is hereby revoked in so far as it relates to the sections of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Land in Village of Tongaporutu for Sale.


GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the twenty-fourth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.


GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor by the owner of the land described in the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such land contained in the Crown grant bearing date the ninth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one, and now contained in a division order made under “The Native Land Division Act, 1882,” and dated the twentieth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has recommended that such restrictions be removed:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the fifty-second section of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and in accordance with the recommendation of the Native Land Court, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant and division order on the alienation of the said land are hereby removed.
