Cancelling the Purpose of Reserves in the Tiffen Survey District, and vesting them in the Corporation of the Borough of Greytown in Trust for Municipal Purposes.


GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS Sections Seventy-five and Seventy-six, Block Fourteen, Tiffen Survey District, described in the Schedule hereto, were reserved for recreation and river-conservation purposes respectively: And whereas, under the provisions of section twelve of “The Reserves and Crown Lands Disposal and Enabling Act, 1896” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), the Governor may, by Gazette notice, cancel the purposes for which the lands were set apart, and may vest them in the Corporation of the Borough of Greytown for an estate in fee-simple in trust as reserves for municipal purposes:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby cancel the purposes for which the lands described in the Schedule hereto were set apart, and do hereby declare that from the date of the publication of this notice in the New Zealand Gazette the sections of land shall be deemed to be and are vested in “The Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Greytown” for an estate in fee-simple in trust as reserves for municipal purposes.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 13 acres 3 roods 15 perches, more or less, being Section No. 75, Block XIV., Tiffen Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Kemp-ton’s Creek; towards the south-east by a line; towards the south-west by a public road; and towards the north-west by a public road: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington.

All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres and 11 perches, more or less, being Section No. 76, Block XIV., Tiffen Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road; towards the south-east by a line; towards the south-west by a public road; and towards the north-west by a public road: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington.

Warrant appointing Henry [John Matthews to apply for and obtain on behalf of the Queen any License or Authority in respect to certain Water-races.


GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” His Excellency, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby appoint Henry John Matthews, of Dunedin, in the Provincial District of Otago, Forester, to be the person to apply for and obtain, on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, any license or other authority required to be held or exercised in respect of the water-races, water-rights, and other privileges enumerated in the Schedule hereto under “The Mining Act, 1891,” or any amendment thereof or any regulations made thereunder respectively, and also to exercise on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen all such rights, remedies, and authorities to execute such instruments or documents, and to perform all such conditions in respect of any such license or authority as aforesaid, in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, as she might have or exercise or could be called upon to perform if she were a private person holding such exercise or authority.


SCHEDULE.

  1. A WATER-RACE, with a right to divert one-half of one Government head of water, commencing at a point in a creek running through the Eweburn Township Reserve, and terminating at a point on the southern boundary of the Eweburn State Forest Nursery; length, 50 chains.
