Rural Lands in the Wellington Land District open for Sale or Selection.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section
of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the
report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands
enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-fourth day of February, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of
the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in
respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in
perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned
in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the
provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

This section is situated on the main road through the settlement: distant from Waverley Township about 5 miles;
from Momahaki Railway-station, 3 miles; and from the Momahaki Creamery, about 1½ miles. The section is well
watered, and contains about 20 acres of level land, the balance being undulating. The soil is fair, on a papa and
sandstone formation. Eighteen acres have been felled and grassed, and the standing timber consists of rimu, kahikatea,
tawa, &c.

Weighted with £114 15s. 6d. for improvements. There is a liability of £2 0s. 8d. due to the Waitotara-Momahaki
Road Board for rates.
This section is situated on the main road through the settlement: distant from Waverley 5 miles; from Momahaki
Railway-station, about 3 miles; and from the creamery, 1½ miles. The soil is fair to good, on a papa and sandstone
formation, and the section is well watered, and has an area of 35 acres of flat land, the rest being easy slopes. The
bush has been felled, and the land laid down in grass. There is a good homestead-site.

Weighted with £42 16s. for improvements.
This section is distant about 4 miles from Waverley, 2¾ miles from the railway-station, and 2 miles from the
creamery. The soil is fair to good, on a papa and sandstone formation. It contains about 57 acres of level land, and is
well watered. The whole area is in grass, except a small piece on which there is a clump of manuka.

There are liabilities on this section of £2 6s. 8d. due to the Waitotara-Momahaki Road Board, and £2 1s. 6d. due to the
Patea County Council, for rates, &c.
This section is distant about 4 miles from Waverley, 2¾ miles from Momahaki Railway-station, and 2 miles from the
creamery. The soil is fair to good, on a papa formation. The section is well watered, and contains 12 acres of flat land,
the balance being rather rough. A portion is in grass, the remainder in light bush. It has a good homestead-site.

This section is situated 4 miles from Waverley, 2¾ miles from the Momahaki Railway-station, and 2 miles from the
creamery. The soil is fair to good, on papa formation. The section is well watered, and has 10 acres of flat land, the
balance being sloping or hilly. A portion is in grass, and there is a good homestead-site.

Weighted with £244 18s. for improvements. There is a liability of £1 18s. 6d. due to the Waitotara-Momahaki Road

Situated 4¼ miles from Waverley, 2 miles from Momahaki Railway-station, and 2½ miles from the creamery. The
soil is fair throughout, on a papa formation. It contains about 30 acres of flat land, the rest being somewhat broken. An
area of 24 acres has been felled and grassed, and other improvements have been effected.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-six.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Land District of Canterbury.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and thirty-fifth section of "The Land Act, 1892," it is enacted that the Governor
may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed
or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance
of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the
Land District of Canterbury enumerated in the first column of the Schedule hereto, for the purposes specified in the
second column of the said Schedule, and opposite the descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved,
