ALL that parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 8 acres 2 roods, more or less, being subdivision numbered 3, part of sections numbered 17 and 589, Patea District, Block I., on the map of the Hawera Survey District. Bounded towards the east by the Railway Reserve, 369·4 links; towards the south-east by the Ketemarae Road, 80·3 and 223·1 links, by Subdivision 4, 334·2, 103·1, 79·4, and 268·2 links, by other part of Ketemarae Road, 80·6 links, and by subdivisions numbered 5 and 1, 125 and 300 links; towards the south-west by subdivisions numbered 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, and other part of Section 17, 701 links; towards the north-west by other part of Section 17, 1000 links; and towards the north-east by further part of Section 17, 701·1 and 145·8 links.

Exchange of Education Reserves, Carterton, for other Lands.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of October, 1896.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by the twenty-ninth section of “The Reserves Disposal and Exchange Act, 1895,” it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor in Council, with the consent of the School Commissioners of the Wellington Provincial District, is empowered to exchange Sections One hundred and twenty-eight and One hundred and thirty-five, situate in the Carterton District, and containing one hundred and two acres and two roods, or thereabouts, for Crown lands of equal value: And whereas the lands hereinbefore mentioned are described in the First Schedule hereto: And whereas the School Commissioners of the Wellington Provincial District have by special resolution, passed on the seventh day of October instant, consented to accept the sections of land described in the Second Schedule hereto in exchange for those described in the First Schedule, the said lands so described in the Second Schedule having been ascertained to be of equal value to those described in the First Schedule:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that upon the gazetting of this Order in Council the lands described in the First Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby exchanged for the lands described in the Second Schedule hereto, to the intent that the said lands described in the First Schedule shall vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Carterton, and that the said lands described in the Second Schedule shall vest in the School Commissioners of the Wellington Provincial District, as and in the manner by the said Act respectively provided.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 102 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Sections Nos. 128 and 135, Block XI., Tiffen Survey District, as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 200 acres, more or less, being Section No. 19, Block VI., Mount Cerberus Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by Section No. 18 and the Kawakawa Road; towards the east generally by the Kawakawa Road; towards the south generally by the Kawakawa and Kaituna Roads; and towards the west by Section No. 17.

Also, all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 470 acres, more or less, being Section No. 26, Block VIII., Tiriraukawa Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by the Mangaweka Road; towards the east by Sections Nos. 28 and 29; towards the south by Section No. 27; and towards the west by Section No. 25.

Also, all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 200 acres, more or less, being

Section No. 11, Block XV., Hautapu Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Sections Nos. 8 and 14; towards the east by Section No. 15, Lagoon Road, and Section No. 1; towards the south and west generally by Reserve No. 12 and the 100-links reserve along the Mangawharariki River, and Section No. 8, and Lagoon Road.

As the same are delineated on the plans deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington.

“The Education Act, 1877.”—Inspection and Examination of Schools.

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of October, 1896.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Education Act, 1877,” His Excellency the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth hereby amend the regulations for the inspection and examination of schools made by Order in Council on the nineteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, by inserting, after the words “two acute-angled triangles” in the last two lines of the third paragraph of regulation nineteen, and before the words “two at least,” the following words, “or two obtuse-angled triangles”; and, further, by cancelling regulation twenty-seven and substituting for it the following—“27. The following rule for determining passes in arithmetic is prescribed on the recommendation of the Inspectors: For Standards III., IV., V., and VI., five questions will be set for each class. In questions that are not purely mechanical half-marks will be allowed for correctness of method. Three questions right will pass for boys, and two and a half for girls.” And, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council aforesaid, His Excellency doth hereby prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

“The Public-School Teachers Incorporation and Court of Appeal Act, 1895.”

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of October, 1896.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public-School Teachers Incorporation and Court of Appeal Act, 1895,” His Excellency the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth hereby make the following regulation respecting the returns to be made to the Registrar under section eleven of the said Act, namely:—

REGULATION.

Once in every year each society registered under “The Public-School Teachers Incorporation and Court of Appeal Act, 1895,” shall forward to the Registrar, within three months from the date of the annual meeting of such society, a copy of its annual report, together with a statement of accounts, a copy of by-laws, and a statement of the cases of appeal in which it intervened during the year to which the annual report relates.
