THE following special order, made by the East Tamaki Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER MAKING A BY-LAW,

BY-LAW.—No person shall use any metal or scoria road in the East Tamaki Road District by the traction thereon of any vehicle, engine, or machine which shall itself, or together with the thing or things transported thereon, weigh more than one and a half tons avoirdupois to each pair of wheels, or which shall be drawn by more than two horses, unless such wheels shall have tires of not less than four and a half inches wide.

Any person committing a breach of the above by-law shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds.

I certify that the above by-law has been duly made and passed by the East Tamaki Road Board.

Watino Road.—Proposed Loan of £300.

RESULT of a poll taken on the 13th October, 1896:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 12, representing 13 votes:
Number of votes recorded in favour, 9; number of votes recorded against, nil; number of votes not recorded, 4.

A majority of ratepayers, exercising a majority of votes, being in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Notice to the Public Trustee.

Education Department,
Wellington, 19th October, 1896.

WHEREAS Giulio Luisetti, Pietro Luisetti, and Bianca Luisetti are at present detained as inmates of the Burnham Industrial School (a school established under “The Industrial Schools Act, 1882”), and such inmates are entitled to certain funds or moneys, amounting to the sum of £117, more or less; now in the hands of the Public Trustee; and whereas it appears expedient to issue the direction hereinafter set forth: Now, I, William Campbell Walker, the Minister of Education, do hereby, in exercise of the power conferred by section 3 of “The Industrial Schools Act Amendment Act, 1895,” direct the Public Trustee to apply the said funds or moneys to the benefit of the said inmates, in accordance with the provisions of such last-mentioned Act.

WHEREAS Frederick Bohm, Lizzie Bohm, John Bohm, and Annie Bohm are at present detained as inmates of St. Mary’s Industrial School, Nelson (a school established under “The Industrial Schools Act, 1882”), and such inmates are entitled to certain funds or moneys, amounting to the sum of £40, more or less, now in the hands of the Public Trustee: And whereas it appears expedient to issue the direction hereinafter set forth: Now, I, William Campbell Walker, the Minister of Education, do hereby, in exercise of the power conferred by section 3 of “The Industrial Schools Act Amendment Act, 1895,” direct the Public Trustee to apply the said funds or moneys to the benefit of the said inmates, in accordance with the provisions of such last-mentioned Act.

Vessels requiring a coast pilot for the inner route, Torres Strait, may depend on obtaining one at Thursday Island (unless prevented through unforeseen circumstances) by cabling date of sailing to “Torres,” Sydney, about a week prior to vessel’s departure.
