Valleys; thence towards the south-east generally by the boundary-line between the Land Districts of Nelson and Marlborough to Tophouse; thence by the summit of St. Arnaud Range to a point near the head-waters of the Motupiko River; thence towards the south-west generally by the summit of the watershed between the Rivers Motupiko and Buller and the summit of the watershed between the said Buller River and the Hope River to the confluence of the two last-named rivers; thence by the summit of the watershed between the Rivers Hope and Owen to Mount Owen; thence again towards the south-east generally by the summit of the range leading from Mount Owen to the Lyell Range, and by the summit of the said Lyell Range to Bald Hill, Block X., Lyell Survey District; thence again towards the south-west by the summit of the watershed leading up to the head waters of Lyell Creek and Slaty Creek and by the summit of the leading spur to the source of the said Slaty Creek; thence by a line due west to the nearest source of the Ngakawhau River; and thence by the said Ngakawhau River to the ocean.
WAIRAU.
This district is bounded towards the north-west by the Motueka Electoral District, hereinbefore described, from Tophouse to the summit of the watershed between the Wairau and Pelorus Valleys, and by the City of Nelson Electoral District, hereinbefore described, to the French Pass; thence by the French Pass and Tasman Bay; towards the north-east and towards the south-east generally by Cook Strait and the ocean to the mouth of the Clarence River; thence towards the south-west, and again towards the south-east, and towards the south by the said Clarence River to its confluence with the Acheron River; thence towards the west generally by the said Acheron River to its confluence with the Guide River: and thence by the last-named river to its source; thence by a right line to Barefell Pass; and thence by the boundary-line between the Land Districts of Nelson and Marlborough to Tophouse aforesaid: including D’Urville, Stephen, Arapawa, The Brothers, and adjacent islands.
BULLER.
This district is bounded towards the north generally by the Motueka Electoral District, hereinbefore described, from the mouth of the Ngakawhau River, on the West Coast, to a point on the summit of the St. Arnaud Range near the head waters of the Motupiko River; thence towards the south-east by the summits of the St. Arnaud Range and the Spencer Range respectively to the watershed between the Grey and Inangahua Rivers; thence towards the south-west generally by the summit of that watershed to Mount Haast; thence by the summit of the western watershed of the Inangahua River over Trig. Stations G, P, O, and A, Waitahu Survey District, to the source of the Devil’s Creek; thence by the watershed between Devil’s Creek and Slab Hut Creek and the watershed between the Inangahua River and the Mawhera-iti River to the source of the said Mawhera-iti River; and thence by the leading spur to the summit of the range dividing the Blackwater and Inangahua Rivers; thence by the summit of that range to Mount Faraday; and thence by the summit of the Paparoa Mountains to the range between the Okari River and the Totara River, and by the summit of the last-mentioned range to the spur leading to the mouth of the Totara River; thence by that spur to the mouth of the said Totara River at the sea-coast; and thence towards the west and north-west by the ocean to the mouth of the Ngakawhau River aforesaid.
GREY.
This district is bounded towards the north-east generally by the Buller Electoral District, hereinbefore described, from the mouth of the Totara River, on the West Coast, to the summit of the Spenser Mountains; thence towards the south-east by the summit of the Spenser Mountains and the summit of the main range leading to the saddle between the north branch of the Hurunui River and the Taramakau River; thence towards the south-west by a right line to where the Arnold River debouches from Lake Brunner; thence again towards the south-east by Lake Brunner to the mouth of the Eastern Hohonu River; thence again towards the south-west generally by that river to a point due east of the confluence of Foley’s Creek with Blackwater Creek; thence by a right line in the direction of the confluence of the said creeks to the summit of the range leading northerly to the source of the Eight-mile Creek; thence by the summit of that range and by Eight-mile Creek to the New River; thence by the New River to Maori Creek Road; thence by that road to the A. K. Road; thence by the last-mentioned road to Card’s Creek, and by Card’s Creek to a bend in that creek about 50 chains east of Section No. 2027, Waimea Survey District; thence by a right line to the confluence of Hughes’s Creek with the Taramakau River, and thence by the said Taramakau River to the ocean; and thence towards the west by the ocean to the mouth of the Totara River aforesaid.
WESTLAND.
This district is bounded towards the north-east generally by the Grey Electoral District, hereinbefore described, from the mouth of the Taramakau River, on the West Coast, to the saddle between the north branch of the Hurunui River and the Taramakau River; thence towards the south-east by the summit of the Southern Alps to Mount Aspiring; thence towards the south-west by a right line to the mouth of the Awarua River in Big Bay; and thence towards the north-west by the ocean to the Grey Electoral District aforesaid, the place of commencement.
ASHLEY.
This district is bounded towards the north-east and north-west generally by the Wairau Electoral District, hereinbefore described, from Tophouse to the mouth of the Clarence River; thence towards the south-east by the ocean to the Ashle River; thence towards the south by the said Ashley River to a point due north of the north-eastern corner of Section No. 24303, Block II., Mairaki Survey District; thence towards the east generally by a right line to the north-eastern corner of that section; thence by the road which forms the north-eastern boundary of the said Section No. 24303, and by the road which forms the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 24241, 1253, and 13987 of the said Block II.; thence by the south side of the Mairaki Downs Road to Section No. 9791, Block VI., Mairaki Survey District; thence by the said Section No. 9791 and Sections Nos. 15213, 13619, 12626, 12321, 11124, 26468, and 27370, to the road which forms the western boundary of the last-mentioned section; thence by that road and its continuation, passing Sections Nos. 11134, 13684, and 15467 of the said Block VI. to the Oxford and Rangiora railway-line; thence again towards the south by the Oxford and Rangiora railway-line to the Oxford and Sheffield Railway-line; and thence by that railway-line to the Waimakariri River; thence towards the south-west and west by that river to a line formerly known as the northern boundary-line of Run No. 270; thence towards the north by that boundary-line (county boundary) to the summit of the Puketirake Range; thence again towards the north-west by the summit of that range to Ashley Head; thence again towards the south-west by the summit of the range leading over Esk Head and Snowy Peak to the source of the south branch of the Hurunui River; thence by a right line to the saddle between the north branch of the Hurunui River and the Taramakau River; thence again towards the north-west by the Grey Electoral District, hereinbefore described, the Buller Electoral District, hereinbefore described, and the Motueka Electoral District, hereinbefore described, to the Wairau Electoral District aforesaid at Tophouse, the place of commencement.
KAIAPOI.
This district is bounded towards the north-west and north by the Ashley Electoral District, hereinbefore described, from the Waimakariri River at the crossing of the Oxford and Sheffield Railway to the mouth of the Ashley River; thence towards the east by Pegasus Bay to the mouth of the Waimakariri River; thence towards the south generally by the southern bank of the said Waimakariri River and the southern bank of its south branch; and again by the southern bank of the said Waimakariri River to the crossing of the Oxford and Sheffield Railway-line aforesaid.
AVON.
The district is bounded towards the north-west and north generally by the Kaipoi Electoral District, hereinbefore described, from the road which forms the eastern boundary of Section No. 10938, Block VI., Christchurch Survey District, to the mouth of the Waimakariri River; thence towards the east by Pegasus Bay to the estuary of the Heathcote and the Avon Rivers; thence towards the south-west and towards the south-east by the said estuary to the south-western side of the Canal Reserve; thence towards the south-west by the south-western side of the said Canal Reserve (being the north-eastern boundary of the Borough of Woolston) to a point in line with the south-eastern side of Aldwin’s Road; thence again towards the south-east by a right line to the south-eastern side of Aldwin’s Road, and by the south-eastern side of that road and its production to the southern side of Ferry Road; thence again towards the south-west by the southern side of Ferry Road to Ensor’s Road; thence again towards the south-east by the eastern side of Ensor’s Road to the reserve for the Christchurch-Lyttelton Railway; thence again towards the south-west by that reserve to Wilson’s Road on the Sydenham Borough boundary; thence towards the north-west by Wilson’s Road to Ferry Road; thence again towards the south-west by Ferry Road to the East Town Belt of the City
