Extending Time for Elections, Borough of Dannevirke.

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of September, 1896.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Returning Officer of the Borough of Dannevirke has failed to give public notice, as required by “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” fourteen clear days before the day on which an ordinary election of three Councillors for the said borough should be held, and it is expedient to extend the time for holding such election:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the sixth section of “The Municipal Corporation Acts Amendment Act, 1887,” and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the time for holding the said election of three Councillors for the Borough of Dannevirke shall be and the same is hereby extended to the eighth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

Delegating Powers under “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” to the Ashburton County Council.

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of September, 1896.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in him by “The Cemeteries Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1885,” and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby delegate to the Council of the Ashburton County the powers conferred upon him by section six of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” as to the appointment and removal of trustees for the cemetery described in the Schedule hereto; and doth declare that this Order in Council shall take effect as from the day of the date hereof.


SCHEDULE.

MAYFIELD CEMETERY.

ALL that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Section No. 3049 (in red), formerly part Reserve 2589 (in red), Block XI., Shepherd’s Bush Survey District. Bounded on the north-west by Section No. 30139, 400 links; on the north-east by Reserve 2589, 250 links; on the south-east by said Reserve 2589, 400 links; on the south-west by a road-line, 250 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch.

Also, all that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Section No. 3069, formerly part of Reserve 2589, Block XI., Shepherd’s Bush Survey District. Bounded on the north-west by Reserve 3049, 400 links; on the north-east by Reserve 2589, 250 links; on the south-east by said Reserve 2589, 400 links; and on the south-west by a road-line, 250 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch.

Increasing the Holding-area of Land to Settlers in the Rabbit Island Village Settlement, Canterbury.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of September, 1896.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council issued on the twenty-sixth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, under the authority of the one hundred and sixty-ninth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” fixing the terms and conditions upon which village-settlement lands in the Rabbit Island Village Settlement should be disposed of, it was provided that no selector should hold more than one allotment:

And whereas it is expedient to allow one person to hold not more than one hundred acres in the said Rabbit Island Village Settlement:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance of “The Land Act, 1892,” and in pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities in anywise enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby amend the Order in Council aforesaid so far as it affects the areas in which the land in the Rabbit Island Village Settlement shall be held, and doth declare that on and after the date hereof any settler in the Rabbit Island Village Settlement may apply for and acquire more than one allotment, provided that the total area does not exceed one hundred acres. And it is hereby further declared that all the provisions of the Order in Council of the twenty-sixth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, aforesaid, shall apply, except as regards the area in which the sections may be held, to the Rabbit Island Village Settlement.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of September, 1896.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council issued on the first day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, under the authority of the one hundred and sixty-third section of “The Land Act, 1885,” fixing the terms and conditions upon which village lands should be disposed of, it was provided that no person would be allowed to acquire more than fifty acres:

And whereas the Waitaki South Village Settlement, consisting of Sections 1 to 7, Reserve 866, and Sections 35757 to 35763, inclusive, Waitaki District, was by Proclamations of the fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, set apart for selection under the terms and conditions of the aforesaid Order in Council:

And whereas it is expedient to allow one person to hold and acquire not more than one hundred acres of land in the said Waitaki South Village Settlement:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby amend the Order in Council aforesaid so far as it affects the areas in which the land in the Waitaki South Village Settlement shall be held, and doth by this present Order declare that, on and after the date hereof, any settler in the Waitaki South Village Settlement aforesaid may apply for and acquire more than one allotment, provided that the total area does not exceed one hundred acres. And it is hereby further declared that all the provisions of the Order in Council of the first day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, aforesaid, shall apply, except as regards the area in which the land may be held, to the Waitaki South Village Settlement aforesaid.
