Increasing the Holding-area of Land to Settlers in the Hinds Village Settlement, Canterbury.

GLASGOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of September, 1896.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council issued on the first day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, under the authority of section one hundred and sixty-three of “The Land Act, 1885,” fixing the terms and conditions upon which village-settlement lands should be disposed of, it was provided that no lessee would be allowed to acquire more than fifty acres:

And whereas the Hinds Village Settlement was by a Proclamation of the ninth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, set apart for selection under the terms and conditions of the aforesaid Order in Council:

And whereas it is expedient to allow one person to hold not more than one hundred acres in the said Hinds Village Settlement:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby amend the Order in Council aforesaid so far as it affects the areas in which the land in the Hinds Village Settlement shall be held, and doth declare that on and after the date hereof any settler in the Hinds Village Settlement aforesaid may apply for and acquire more than one allotment, provided that the total area does not exceed one hundred acres; and it is hereby further declared that all the provisions of the Order in Council of the first day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, aforesaid, shall apply, except as regards the area in which the sections may be held, to the Hinds Village Settlement aforesaid.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council issued on the thirtieth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, under the authority of the one hundred and sixty-seventh section of “The Land Act, 1885,” fixing the terms and conditions upon which certain village lands therein enumerated should be disposed of, it was provided that no person would be allowed to acquire more than one allotment in the Village Settlement of Reserve 1261, near Ashburton:

And whereas it is expedient to allow one person to hold and acquire not more than four acres of land in the village settlement:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby amend the Order in Council aforesaid so far as it affects the areas in which the land in the Village Settlement of Reserve 1261, near Ashburton, shall be held, and doth by this present Order declare that any settler in the village settlement aforesaid may apply for and acquire not more than four acres of land therein. And it is hereby further declared that all the provisions of the Order in Council of the thirtieth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, aforesaid, shall apply, except as regards the area in which the land may be held, to the Village Settlement of Reserve 1261 aforesaid.

Vesting a Reserve in the Cook County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of September, 1896.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto was permanently reserved for a quarry on the twenty-second day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient that the said land should be vested in the Cook County Council:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in “The Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Cook County,” in trust, as a quarry reserve.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 34 acres and 20 perches, more or less, being Section No. 133A, Block VII., Patutahi Survey District. Bounded on the north-west by a public road, 3037 links; on the east by Section No. 133, 1231 links; and on the south by a public road, 3192 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Napier.

Vesting a Reserve in the Ashburton County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of September, 1896.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto was permanently reserved for river-conservation purposes on the twenty-sixth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to vest the said land in the Ashburton County Council:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in “The Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Ashburton County,” in trust, for the protection and conservation of the banks of the South Ashburton River.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land, containing 180 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Reserve No. 2943, situate in Blocks III. and VII., Westerfield Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the road forming the south-east boundary of Reserve No. 2242; towards the north-east by the road along the south branch of the Ashburton River to its confluence with the stream which forms the north-east boundaries of Sections Nos. 26476 and 35970; thence by said stream to the north-east corner of Section No. 35970; thence towards the south-east by the north-west boundary of said Section No. 35970; thence towards the south-west by the road forming the north-west boundary of Section No. 35988: as the same is more particularly delineated on the map deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto was permanently set apart as a gravel reserve on the third day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to vest the said land in the Clifton County Council:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby
