Blenheim City Rifle Volunteers, from the New Zealand Volunteer Force, he having been convicted, at Picton, on the 20th May, 1896, of theft. Dismissal to date from the 20th May, 1896.

WHANGAREI COUNTY.—ALTERATION OF RIDINGS.
SPECIAL order of the Whangarei County Council, made by the Council on a resolution of the Council passed at a special meeting thereof on the 9th day of March, 1896, and confirmed by the Council at a meeting on the 21st day of April, 1896, and sealed with the common seal of the body corporate called “The Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Whangarei”; such special order to take effect on the 23rd day of October, 1896:—
Alteration of Ridings.
In pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it by sections 44, 45, and 46 of “The Counties Act, 1886,” and the amendments of such Act, and all other powers it thereunto enabling, the Council of the County of Whangarei, for the purposes of adjustment of representation, resolve,—
That the County of Whangarei be subdivided into eight ridings, with one outlying district in each, with the names and boundaries as shown, and delineated on the county map marked A prepared by the Engineer. That to give effect to this resolution five new ridings be formed out of the existing ridings of Ngunguru, Hikurangi, and Manaiā, to be called respectively Otago, Kiripaka, Hikurangi, Wairua, and Manaiā, each riding to be represented by one Councillor.
The Otago Riding to consist of the Otago Road District and portions of the Ngunguru and Hikurangi Outlying Districts, the portions of such outlying districts henceforth to be called the Otago Outlying District: such riding being shown on the county plan hereto annexed, marked A, as Otago Riding, and bounded towards the north-west by Bay of Islands County; towards the east by the ocean; towards the south by the Whananaki Inlet to Takapuna, and by the northern boundary of the Otago East Road District to the eastern boundary of the Hikurangi Road District; and towards the west generally by the eastern boundary of the said Hikurangi Road District to the Whakapara River, and thence by the middle of the county road between Whangarei and Kawakawa to the Bay of Islands County.
Kiripaka Riding to consist of the Otago East Road District, the other portion of the Ngunguru Outlying District, and portions of the Outlying Districts of Manaiā and Hikurangi, the portions of such outlying districts henceforth to be called the Kiripaka Outlying District: such riding being shown on the county map hereto annexed, marked A, as Kiripaka Riding, and bounded towards the north by the Otago Riding; towards the east by the sea to the Taheke River; thence towards the south by the Taheke River to its confluence with the Waitangi River, to the north-western corner of Section 2, Block VI., Whangarei Survey District, thence along the western boundary of said section to Trig. Station XIII., thence generally by the northern boundary of the Whareora Road District to the Whangarei River, thence by the said Whangarei River to the Otaingarei Stream; thence towards the west generally by the eastern boundary of the Kensington Road District, Kamo Town District, and Kaurihohore and Hikurangi Road Districts.
The Hikurangi Riding to consist of the Road Districts of Kaurihohore and Hikurangi and portion of the Outlying District of Hikurangi, such portion of outlying district henceforth to be called the Hikurangi Outlying District: such riding being shown on the county map hereto annexed, marked A, as Hikurangi Riding, and bounded towards the north-west by the Bay of Islands County: towards the east generally by the middle of the county road from Kawakawa to Whangarei to the Whakapara River; thence by portions of the Otago and Kiripaka Ridings respectively to the Waitawa Stream: thence towards the south and south-west by the said Waitawa Stream, the south-western boundary of the Kaurihohore Road District to the south-eastern corner of the Ngamutu Block No. 3547; thence along the southern and western boundary of the said Ngamutu Block to the northern line of Block VIII., Purua Survey District; thence westerly by the said block-line to the south-eastern corner of Section 1, Block V., Purua Survey District; thence along the southern boundary-line of said section to the south-eastern corner thereof; thence in a straight line from such corner to the north-east corner of Section 1, Block IV., Purua Survey District; thence northerly by a small stream to the Maungahahuru Stream; thence by such last-mentioned stream to the Wairua River; and thence westerly by the northern block-lines of Blocks IV., III., and part of I., Purua Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of Section 12, Block XIII., Hukerenui Survey District; thence along the northern boundary of said section to the eastern boundary-line of Block XVI., Motatau Survey District; and thence northerly to the Bay of Islands County.
The Wairua Riding to consist of the Town District of Kamo and portion of Hikurangi Outlying District, such portion of outlying district henceforth to be called the Wairua Outlying District: such riding being shown on the county map hereto annexed, marked A, as Wairua Riding, and bounded on the north-west by the Bay of Islands County: on the north-east generally by the Hikurangi Riding: on the east by the eastern boundary of the Kamo Town District: thence towards the south generally by the northern boundary of the said Kensington Road District to the north-western corner of Section 55, Parish of Whangarei; thence by the northern boundary of the Maunu Road District to the confluence of the Mangere and Wairua Rivers; thence by the said Wairua River to the south-western corner of Section 20, Block IX., Purua Survey District; thence in a straight line to the Turipukunui Block; thence by the southern boundary-lines of the said block to the Hikurangi River; and thence by the said Hikurangi River to the boundary of Bay of Islands County.
Maunu Riding to consist of the Town District of Whangarei, the Road Districts of Kensington and Maunu, and the Outlying Districts of Maunu and portion of Hikurangi Outlying Districts, such portions of the Outlying Districts of Maunu and Hikurangi to be henceforth called the Maunu Outlying District: and such riding being shown on the county map hereto annexed, marked A, as Maunu Riding, and bounded on the north by the Bay of Islands County: on the north-west generally by the Wairua Riding: on the east by the Otaingarei Stream and the Whangarei River and Harbour to the Tokitoki River; thence by the northern boundary of the Maungakaramea Road District to the Waionepu Stream; thence by portion of the western boundary of the Maungatapere Parish to the northern corner of the Otuihi Block No. 4999; thence in a straight line to the south-west corner of Section 12, Block II., Purua Survey District; thence along the Moeteoa Stream to the Tangihua River; thence by
