districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as
follow:—
**MAURICEVILLE DISTRICT.**
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded
towards the north generally by the Makakahi River from
a point in line with the western boundary-line of Section
No. 21, Block XIV., Tararua Survey District, to a point in
line with the south-western boundary-line of Section No. 1,
said Block XIV.; thence by a line across a road; thence by
the said Section No. 1 across a road, and by the northern
boundary-lines of Section No. 172, Block XIII., Mangaone
Survey District, by Section No. 171, across a road, by Sec-
tions Nos. 129, 131, across a road, and by Section No. 135 to
the railway-line: thence towards the east generally by the
Masterton-Eketahuna Railway Reserve to a point in line
with the northern boundary-line of Section No. 26, Block V.,
Kopuaranga Survey District: thence towards the south by a
right line to and by said Section No. 26, to Jackson's Road:
thence towards the south-west generally by Jackson's Road
and Fabian's Road to the Ruamahanga River; thence
by the Ruamahanga River to the westernmost corner of
Section No. 9, Block IV., Mikimiki Survey District: thence
towards the south by a right line to the summit of the
Tararua Range: thence towards the north-west by the summit
of the said Tararua Range to a line bearing 115° 30' mag-
netic from the said summit to the Makakahi River at a point
where the production of the western boundary-line of Sec-
tion No. 21, Block XIV., Tararua Survey District, intersects
the said river: thence towards the north-east by the said
line to the said Makakahi River.
**MASTERTON DISTRICT.**
Bounded towards the north by a line due east from the
summit of the Tararua Range to the westernmost corner of
Section No. 9, Block IV., Mikimiki Survey District: thence
towards the north-east by a line due south to the Ruama-
hanga River; thence by the left bank of the Ruamahanga
River to Fabian's Road; thence by the east side of Fabian's
Road and Jackson's Road to the southern boundary of Sec-
tion No. 24, Block V., Kopuaranga Survey District; thence
by that section, and the production of its southern bound-
ary-line, to the railway-line: thence towards the west by
the western side of the Masterton—Eketahuna Railway
Reserve to a point in line with the northern boundary-
line of Section No. 139, Block XIV., Mangaone Survey
District: thence again towards the north-east generally
by a line across the said reserve, and by the northern
and part of the eastern boundary-lines of the said Section
No. 139; thence by the northern boundary-line of Sec-
tion No. 67; thence by a line along the middle of the road
forming the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 67 and
72, by the eastern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 65 and 18,
by the north-east boundary-lines of Section No. 9 (Education
Reserve); thence by a line in production of the north-east
boundary of said Section No. 9 to the middle of the road,
and thence by a line along the middle of the road running
along the northern boundaries of Sections Nos. 92, 97, 98,
Block III., Kopuaranga Survey District, and of Section
No. 99; thence by Sections Nos. 95, 96, and 16, Block IV.,
Kopuaranga Survey District, by Section No. 22, Block I.,
Mangapakeha Survey District, by Sections Nos. 22, 27, and
26, Section No. 310 (College Reserve), and Section No. 151
(Education Reserve): towards the south-east by Sections
Nos. 824, 156, 155, 154, 153, 811, 812, 869, 870, 871, 875, 874,
867, and 518, all of last-named district: again towards the
north-east generally by Sections Nos. 518, 519, 616, 725, 729,
of Mangapakeha Survey District, Sections Nos. 268, 267,
266, 262, 259, and 241 of Rewa Survey District, and by the
Mangapokia River to its confluence with the Whareama
River, and thence by the said Whareama River to the ocean:
again towards the south-east by the ocean to the Kaiwhata
River: thence towards the south-west generally by the right
bank of the said Kaiwhata River to a point bearing north 85°
west to the southernmost corner of Section No. 130, Wai-
nuioru Survey District; thence by a right line to that
corner; thence by the left bank of the Ruamahanga Stream
to the Wainuioru River; thence by the right bank of that
river to Section No. 79, Wainuioru Survey District; thence
by the said Section No. 79 and Section No. 76, Block XIV.,
Section No. 75, Block XV., Sections Nos. 63, 51, and 50,
Block XIV., and Section No. 48, Block X., all of Otahoua
Survey District, and by Te Kahu Native Block to a point
due south (magnetic) from the southernmost corner of Sec-
tion No. 102 of the said Otahoua Survey District; thence by
a right line to that corner; thence by the southern boundary-
line of the said Section No. 102 and the southern boundary-
lines of Sections Nos. 103, 104, 105, and 95 to the Taueru
River; thence by the left bank of that river to the Ruama-
hanga River; thence by the right bank of the said Ruama-
hanga River and the right bank of the Waingawa River to
the southern source of the last-named river; thence by a
line due west to the summit of the Tararua Range: and
towards the north-west by that summit.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the second day of December, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Registration of Births
and Deaths Act, 1875," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish
the existing registration district known as the Masterton
District, and do proclaim and declare that the territory here-
tofore comprised within the said district is hereby divided
anew into two registration districts, the names whereof shall
be the Mauriceville and Masterton Districts, and the bound-
aries whereof shall be coterminous with the boundaries of
the marriage districts bearing the same names, as are set
forth in a Proclamation of even date herewith, made under
the provisions of "The Marriage Act, 1880."
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the second day of December, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth
day of November, 1895.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the
sixty-second section of "The Land Drainage Act,
1893," a majority of the ratepayers in the district described
in the Schedule hereto, situated in the County of Wairarapa
North, have presented a petition to His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand praying that the
land comprised in the said district be constituted a district
under the provisions of Part II. of the said Act:
And whereas the provisions of "The Water-supply Act,
1891," could not conveniently be adopted in the area de-
scribed in the Schedule to this present Order in Council:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power
and authority contained in the sixty-second section of "The
Land Drainage Act, 1893," His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
constitute and declare the area of land described in the
Schedule hereto to be a district under Part II. of the said
Act for the purpose of the maintenance and construction
therein of water-races for the supply of water for irrigation
of land and otherwise for the use and convenience of the
public in any manner other than for domestic use: And
with the like advice and consent as aforesaid His said
Excellency doth hereby declare that the said district shall
be called by the name of "The Upper Plain Irrigation Dis-
trict"; and also, that this Order shall come into effect on
and after the nineteenth day of November now instant.
