Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the eighteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Level and undulating land, covered with heavy bush, principally tawa, rata, and rimu. North and east aspect. Soil, a sandy loam, but takes grass splendidly. About 1,200ft. above sea-level, and generally well watered. These lands have access by a newly-formed bridle-track into main Rotorua–Tauranga coach-road. Eighteen miles from Ngongotaha Railway-station; and about twenty miles from seaport, Tauranga. Section 2, Block III., and Sections 2, 4, 6, 9, 13, and 14, front the main road. No water on Section 9, Block XV., Otanewainuku.

Section 1, undulating to broken country; scraggy bush and old kauri workings; soil fair to good. Section 2 undulating and level land, with alluvial flats on the Hikurangi River. Half mixed-bush land and half open. Situated about sixteen miles from Kamo by dray-road to within two miles of the block.

These sections vary in quality from good, level, and also undulating land to inferior and broken. On the Hikurangi and Moengawahine Rivers the land is very good. The lands are well watered and contain more or less bush, and are situated about sixteen miles from Kamo by dray-road to within a mile or so of the block.

Open fern land of good quality, situated about two miles beyond Wairoa Bridge, main road to Katikati.
