Rural Lands in the Otago Land District open for Sale or Selection.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

Mostly hilly bush country; soil fair to good. Section 41 contains small portions of level land. Situated about five miles and a half from Glenomaru Railway-station, and about three miles from Hunt's Siding; access by Cannibal Bay Road, which is formed to within a few chains of the sections. Valuations for improvements, payable with application or immediately the result of the ballot is declared, are as follows: Section 33, £10; Section 41, £225.

With the exception of portions of Sections 43, 44, and 49, this is all bush land of rather a steep nature, altitude varying from 40ft. to 1,923ft.; bush partly mixed and partly beech forest; the soil on the mixed-bush ground is very good, and on Section 49, where there is a portion cleared, excellent grass is to be found. Situated from eight to nine miles from Henley Railway-station.

Broken pastoral country, having frontage to Molyneux River and main road; distant from Roxburgh ten miles, and from Lawrence Railway-station fifty miles. Valuation for improvements, payable with application or immediately the result of the ballot is declared, £44 3s.

Section No. 875, 50 acres black scrub, slightly swampy; 80 acres white- and silver-pine, swamp. Sections Nos. 876 and 877, white- and silver-pine forest, swampy; a few acres of open swamp. Section No. 878, mixed bush, principally white- and silver-pine; swampy ground. Flat, level land, 50ft. to 100ft. above sea-level; access by Main South Road and road from sea-beach; about four miles from steamer-landing at Bruce Bay; school in vicinity; ground very swampy throughout, intersected by sluggish, boggy creeks; pastoral to a slight degree; some valuable patches of silver-pine scattered through block.
