The access to these sections for the present will be from Alfredton, by Alfredton-Weber dray-road to the Huia Road, a distance of about nineteen miles; and for the Waihoki Valley sections, by horse-road for the remaining distance. From here on to Section 4, a distance of about three miles is by surveyed road only. For the easterly sections, access will be by the Huia horse-road to the Waihoki Junction, a distance of four miles; and the remainder of the way by surveyed roads, the furthest section being four miles, or about twenty-seven miles from Alfredton. Eventually, a nearer route for the Waihoki Valley sections will probably be by leaving the Weber Road near Burling's Waterfall Homestead, thence over the saddle and into Waihoki Valley. The character of the country is varied, some of the land being easy-sloping and good, whilst other parts are broken and poor, with manuka scrub, &c., in places. The land is well watered throughout.

For Sections 22 and 23, a horse-road is made from the Puketoi Road, before mentioned, to the junction, a distance of one mile and a quarter, and from there on a surveyed road for about two miles.
