Notice of Request to amend Specification.

A REQUEST for leave to amend the specification (in-
cluding drawings) relating to the under-mentioned
application for Letters Patent has been received, and is open
to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any
time within one month from the date of this Gazette, give
me notice in writing of opposition to the amendments. Such
notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection,
and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.
No. 5291.—10th November, 1891.—ALEXANDER HARVEY, of
Albert Street, Auckland, New Zealand, Zinc, Tin, and Cop-
per Worker (nominee of William Murchland, of 13, Bank
Street, Kilmarnock, Ayr, Great Britain, Plumber). An
invention for improvements in apparatus for milking cows.
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows,
viz.:—

To strike out the words “a special feature of my ar-
rangements is that the milk is not drawn through a pump.
According to another,” lines 2 and 3, page 2, and to insert in
place thereof the words “according to an.” -
To strike out the words “which liquid may in some
cases be the cow’s milk itself,” line 6, page 2. -
To strike out the words “being in some cases required
only when starting the milking operation,” lines 8 and 9,
page 2. -
To strike out the words “two sheets,” line 20, page 2,
and to insert instead the words “one sheet.” -
To strike out the words, &c., “on sheet 1,” line 3,
page 3. -
To strike out all the words from and including the
word, &c., “Figure 7,” to and including the words “teat
cup,” lines 10–15, page 3. -
To strike out all the words from and including the
words “or the teat cups,” lines 19 and 20, page 5, to and in-
cluding the word “vessel,” line 19, page 7. -
To strike out the claims numbered “2,” “5,” and “6,”
lines 9–12, page 10, and 3–8, page 11. -
To alter the number of claim “3” to “2,” and of
claim “4” to “3,” lines 13 and 19, page 10. -
To cancel sheet 2 of the drawings, containing figures
7 and 8.
The applicant states, “My reasons for making these
amendments are as follows: I am advised that the specifi-
cation as originally filed claims more than I am entitled to,
and I therefore desire to eliminate the portions which
appear to be wanting in novelty.”
