Extension of Time for Publication of Notice of Objection
to Valuation List by Pahiatua County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of April, 1895.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the Pahiatua County Council lately gave
public notice, under the provisions of "The Rating
Act, 1894," that the whole of the valuation list for the
County of Pahiatua, then open for inspection at the
county offices, would be objected to at the next sitting of
the Assessment Court, as in the said notice is mentioned:
And whereas the said notice was published in the Pahiatua
Herald, a newspaper circulating in the said county, on the
eighth day of March last past, and the same notice should
have been so published on or before the seventh day of
March last past: And whereas at a sitting of the Assessment
Court for the County of Pahiatua duly held at Pahiatua on
the first day of April now instant the publication of the said
notice as aforesaid was held to be informal, and the sitting
of the said Court was adjourned till the first day of May
next: And whereas it is expedient to extend the time for
the publication of the said notice as hereinafter provided:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power
and authority contained in the eighty-first section of "The
Rating Act, 1894," and of all other powers and authorities
enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby extend the time for the publication of the said notice
of objection by the Pahiatua County Council to the whole of
the valuation list for the County of Pahiatua, as hereinbefore
mentioned, from the seventh day of March last until the
eighth day of May next, and doth hereby declare that the
publication of the said notice under the authority of this
Order in Council shall be as valid and effectual to all intents
and purposes as if the same had been duly made and given
on or before the 7th day of March last.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of April, 1895.

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by "The Education Act, 1877," the Go-
vernor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Coun-
cil of the colony, doth make the regulation hereto annexed
approving of a class-book for public schools; and, with the
like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this order shall
come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in
the New Zealand Gazette.
REGULATION.
JACKSON'S "Vertical Writing" Copybooks and "New Code"
Copybooks may be used in any public school as if they had
been described and included in the list of works set forth in
the Order in Council prescribing class-books for public
schools, dated the 26th May, 1892.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of April, 1895.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by "The Education Act, 1877," His
Excellency the Governor, with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the colony, doth hereby make the
regulation hereto annexed regarding certain payments of
capitation allowance to Education Boards; and, with the
like advice and consent, doth hereby prescribe that this
Order shall come into force on the date of the first publica-
tion thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
REGULATION.
NOTWITHSTANDING anything to the contrary contained in an
Order in Council made on the 5th day of January, 1888,
under the provisions of "The Education Act, 1877," relating
(inter alia) to attendance registers and returns, the payment
of capitation allowance to Education Boards for the quarter
ending on the 30th day of June, 1895, shall be according to the
working-average attendance of the quarter ending on the
31st day of March, 1895, as working average is defined by
Order in Council dated the 5th day of July, 1887, and made
under the provisions of the before-mentioned Act.

Notice of Intention to take Land for a Road through the
Kaiwhata Valley.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the seventeenth section of "The Public
Works Act, 1894," to execute a certain public work, to wit,
the construction of portion of a road in the Kaiwhata Valley
known as the Kaiwhata Valley Road, through Sections 153,
765 (N.R.), 766 (N.R.), 152, and 30, Kaiwhata, and for the pur-
poses of such public work the land described in the Schedule
hereto is required to be taken; and notice is further given that
the plan of the said road and of the land so required to be taken
is deposited in the Post-office at Gladstone, and is there open
for inspection. And notice is hereby given that all persons
affected by the execution of the said public work or by the
taking of the said land shall, if they have any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said public work or to the
taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send
such writing, within forty days from the first publication of
this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.
