A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken, under "The Public Works
Act, 1894," for a certain work, to wit, the construction of a
drain in the Borough of Hastings:
And whereas the Borough Council of Hastings has laid
before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map,
and also the statutory declaration, required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Jus-
tice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Go-
vernor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-
appointed Deputy, in exercise and pursuance of the powers
and authorities in me vested by "The Public Works Act,
1894," and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the
New Zealand Gazette, the lands mentioned in the Schedule
hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of the construction
of the said drain.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon
me by the one hundred and sixty-second section of "The
Land Act, 1892," and of all other powers and authorities
enabling me in this behalf, I, James Prendergast, Knight,
Chief Justice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his
duly-appointed Deputy, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the block of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be
and the same is hereby set apart and declared open for
special improved farm settlement.
SCHEDULE.
NGAIRE IMPROVED FARM SPECIAL SETTLEMENT.
ALL that parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 170
acres 1 rood 30 perches, more or less, being Sections num-
bered 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23,
24, and 25, Block XI., on the map of the Ngai re Survey
District, in the Land District of Taranaki. Bounded
towards the north by School-site Reserve Section No. 9 and
the Anderson Road, and towards the south and west by the
Horoi Road.

(herein termed "the said Act"), it is, amongst other things,
enacted that, before certain moneys therein mentioned shall
be expended upon any block of land, it shall be necessary
that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power
and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the pur-
poses of the said Act, I, James Prendergast, Knight, Chief
Justice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-
appointed Deputy, do hereby proclaim the block of land
described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.

ALL that area in the Otago Land District containing by ad-
measurement 22,535 acres 1 rood 17 perches, more or less,
and being Sections 279 of Block I., 5 and 7 of Block IV.,

Runs 224c and 224e to 224r inclusive, Blackstone Survey
District; Runs 225c, 225d, 225f, 225i, 225p, 225q, 225r,
Blackstone Survey District; Runs 225s and 225t, Blackstone
and Idaburn Survey Districts; Runs 225, 225A, 225K, 225L,
225M, 225N, and 225S, Gimmerburn Survey District.

Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, for and on
