boundary of Section No. 71 at a distance of 50 links, more
or less, from its westernmost angle, and thence continues
south-easterly and north-easterly generally for a total dis-
tance of 6050 links, more or less, to a point on the north-
western boundary of Section No. 71 aforesaid at a distance
of 5000 links, more or less, from its westernmost angle. All
that parcel of land, being a road containing 2 acres 1 rood
24 perches, more or less, the centre-line of which commences
at Trig. Station No. 633, on the north-eastern boundary of
Section No. 71, and thence continues westerly generally for
a distance of 2400 links, more or less, to a point on the
north-western boundary of Section No. 71 at a distance of
2840 links, more or less, from its northern angle. As the
same are delineated upon a plan marked S.G. 22675, and
thereon coloured green.
Also, all that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
containing by admeasurement 1 rood 24 perches, more or
less, situate in the Parish of Otau, in the Opaheke Road
District, and being a road-line, 100 links wide, traversing
the north-western portion of Section No. 71, the centre-line
of which commences at a point on the north-western boundary
of Section No. 71 at a distance of 2425 links, more or less,
from its westernmost angle, and thence proceeds easterly
for a distance of 400 links, more or less, to its junction with
another road; as the same is delineated upon a plan
marked S.G. 22675, and thereon coloured green.
Also, all that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
containing by admeasurement 3 acres, more or less, situate
in the Parish of Otau, in the Opaheke Road District, and
being a portion of a road, 100 links wide, lying along the
northern boundary of Section No. 10, the south-eastern side
of which commences at a point on the north-western boundary
of Section No. 10 at a distance of 2219·9 links from its
northern corner, and extends in a south-westerly direction to
a point 100 links from the Wairoa River, thence continues 100
links from and parallel to the left bank of that river to the
road which forms the boundary between Sections Nos. 10
and 9, and thence proceeds in a south-westerly direction for
a distance of 965 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or
less; as the same is delineated upon a plan marked S.G.
22675A, and thereon coloured green.
Also, all that parcel of land, containing by admeasure-
ment 2 roods 2 perches, more or less, being a portion of a road
lying to the north-west of Section No. 10 aforesaid, and
bounded towards the north-west by a right line 487·4 links ;
towards the south-east by said Section No. 10, 469·9 links ;
and towards the south-west by a road-line, 80 links: be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated
upon a plan marked S.G. 22675A, and thereon coloured green.
The said plans marked S.G. 22675 and S.G. 22675A being
deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands
and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

Vesting Control of Mangatainoka Bridge in Pahiatua
Borough Council.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and fourteen of "The
Public Works Act, 1894" (hereinafter termed "the
said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
upon the terms and conditions in the said section men-
tioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any
bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be con-
structed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively,
shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation,
be under the exclusive care, control, and management of
such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in
such Proclamation; and may, by any such Proclamation as
aforesaid, fix and determine whether all or any, and, if so,
what, part of the cost, whether theretofore incurred or there-
after to be incurred, of maintaining, repairing, improving,
or reconstructing any such bridge is to be provided and paid
by the local authority or local authorities, and, if so, by what
local authority or authorities; and may, by any such Pro-
clamation as aforesaid, direct how, when, and to whom any
such payment is to be made :
And whereas it is expedient that provision should be made
under the hereinbefore in part recited Act for the purposes
hereinafter mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance
of the powers and authorities in me vested by the said Act,
and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge men-
tioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as the Mangatai-
noka Bridge, shall, from and after the date of this Proclama-
tion, be under the exclusive care, control, and management
of the Pahiatua Borough Council; and, in further pursuance
and exercise of the powers aforesaid, I do hereby fix and
determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving,
or reconstructing the said bridge is to be provided and paid
by the local authorities hereinafter mentioned in the follow-
ing proportions; namely, Borough Council of Pahiatua,
eighty per centum, and County Council of Pahiatua, twenty
per centum. And I do also hereby direct that the contribu-
tion hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the County
Council of Pahiatua towards the cost of maintaining, repair-
ing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge shall be
paid from time to time, in the proportion hereinbefore pre-
scribed, by the County Council of Pahiatua, out of the County
Fund of the said County of Pahiatua, within a period of
three months after a demand in writing, made by or on
behalf of the Borough Council of Pahiatua, stating the
amount so required to be paid and the purpose for which it
is so required, shall have been left at the office of the County
Council of Pahiatua; and the payments so to be made shall
be made from time to time to the Clerk of the Borough
Council of Pahiatua for and on behalf of the County Council
of Pahiatua.
SCHEDULE.
That bridge over the Mangatainoka River known as the
Mangatainoka Bridge, together with the approaches thereto
for a distance of 10 chains at both ends of the said bridge,
situated on the Mangahao Road, partly in the Borough of
Pahiatua and partly in the Pahiatua County, as the site of
the said bridge is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 22500,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Sur-
vey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and
thereon marked in red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and St. George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by
section thirteen of "The Land Act, 1892," I, James
Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, in the name and on
behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, do by this
notice hereby proclaim as closed the road in the Opaheke
Road District hereinafter described, that is to say:—
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
containing by admeasurement 34 perches, more or less,
being a piece of land of irregular width the south-eastern
side of which commences at a point on the southern bound-
ary-line of Section No. 204, Parish of Opaheke, distant 692
links from the south-eastern corner of that section, and pro-
ceeds thence in a north-easterly direction for a distance of
466 links; as the same is more particularly delineated on
the plan marked S.G. 23604, deposited in the Head Office of
the Lands and Survey Department, at Wellington, and
thereon coloured green.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
containing by admeasurement 2 acres and 30 perches, more
or less, being a road not less than 100 links in breadth, the
southern side of which commences at the easternmost corner
of Section No. 204, Parish of Opaheke, and proceeds thence
in a westerly and south-westerly direction for a distance of
2047 links; as the same is more particularly delineated upon
a plan marked S.G. 23604, deposited in the Head Office of
