Cemetery Rules, Road Board Special Orders




  1. The burial warrant, when signed, shall be given by
    the party having the management of the funeral to the
    sexton, and shall be sufficient authority for the interment.
    Burial warrants must be given to the sexton at least eight
    working hours prior to the time fixed for the funeral, otherwise an extra charge of 5s. must be paid. No free inter-
    ment will be allowed without the above notice of eight
    hours.

  2. The following particulars must be given at the time
    of application for a burial warrant: viz., Name of deceased,
    denomination, required size and depth of grave, age of de-
    ceased, officiating minister, number of plot on the plan.

  3. The costs and charges of burial of any person in the
    cemetery may be remitted, except the charges for digging
    the grave, on proof being given to the satisfaction of the
    Trustees that there are no funds available for payment of
    such fees, and that no person is to be found who is liable for
    the payment of the same.

  4. Persons purchasing the exclusive right of burial may,
    by permission of the Trustees, fence in the plots of ground
    allotted to them, and may erect tombstones, headstones, or
    other monuments thereon: Provided always that before
    any such fence, tombstone, or other monument be erected
    a plan thereof, and a copy of every epitaph or other in-
    scription, be first submitted to the Trustees and be duly
    approved by them.

  5. No person shall be allowed to plant in any portion of
    the cemetery, or on any ground on which the exclusive right
    of burial has been acquired, except by express permission in
    writing from the Trustees, any tall-growing shrub or tree;
    and any shrub or tree planted in any portion of the cemetery,
    or on any ground acquired for the exclusive right of burial as
    aforesaid, may at any time be trimmed, removed, or cut
    down by order of the Trustees.

  6. All fences, enclosures, tombstones, headstones, and
    other monuments must be kept in proper order and repair
    by the surviving holders of the grant or relatives of the de-
    ceased. All wooden or other fences left in a state of decay
    or broken down may at any time be removed from the ceme-
    tery by order of the Trustees.

  7. All charges made for any matter or thing connected
    or relating to the cemetery shall be paid in advance.

  8. Persons may, by permission of the Trustees, fence in
    the plot or plots of ground allotted to them, and may erect
    tombstones, headstones, or other monuments thereon: Pro-
    vided always that, before any such fence, tombstone, head-
    stone, or other monument be erected, a plan thereof, and a
    copy of every proposed epitaph or other inscription, be sub-
    mitted to the Trustees and duly approved by them.

  9. In the case of all persons interred in the Birmingham
    Cemetery previous to the 1st day of October, 1893, and whose
    surviving relations and friends have, previous to the above
    date, fenced in portions of land around the graves of persons
    so interred, it is hereby provided that, in all cases where the
    exclusive right of burial in perpetuity is not acquired, it shall
    be lawful for the Trustees at any time to remove or alter the
    position of any of the said fences whenever it may be found
    necessary to do so, of which necessity the Trustees shall be
    the sole judges.

Carterton Road Board, is published in accordance

SPECIAL ORDER, passed by the Taratahi-Carterton Road
Board on 2nd September, 1893, and confirmed 7th Octo-
ber, 1893. (Amended description.)

RESOLVED, That the existing boundaries of Nos. 5 and 6
Subdivisions be altered by incorporating with Subdivision
No. 5 the under-mentioned lands now included within Sub-
division No. 6: viz., Sections Nos. 305, 306, 307, and 400,
Block V.; Section No. 308, Block VI.; Section No. 237,
Blocks IX. and X.; Section No. 240 and that part of Section
No. 241 situate west of the Borough of Carterton, Block X.;
and Allotments 35 and 36 of Section No. 238, Blocks VI.
and X.: all in the Tiffin Survey District.

I certify that the foregoing special order was duly passed
as above stated.

Road Board, is published in accordance with the

MANAWATU ROAD BOARD.—SPECIAL ORDER.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Manawatu Road Board did,
at a special meeting held on the 21st day of December, 1893,
make the following special order:-

"For the purpose of providing interest and other annual
charges on a loan of £495, under 'The Local Bodies Loans
Act, 1886,' and 'The Government Loans to Local Bodies
Act, 1886,' to clear, form, and bridge Milsom's Line from the
Boundary Road, Palmerston North, to the Bunnythorpe-
Kairanga Road, that a special rate of 2d. in the pound for
twenty-six years be made on the rateable values of the fol-
lowing sections: namely, Part Section 426, containing 100
acres, in the occupation of Andrew Allan; Sections 527 to
532 inclusive, 533, 534, part 545, containing 75 acres, in the
occupation of F. W. Johnston; 548, 549, 552, 555, and part
556, containing 70 acres, in the occupation of Frederick
Andersen; Blocks VI., VII., X., XII., in the Manawatu Road
District. Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for
twenty-six years, and payable by two equal instalments on
the 1st days of February and August in each year, at the
Board's office in Palmerston North. Costs of raising loan to
be paid out of loan."

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly
made by the Manawatu Road Board at a special meeting
held on the 21st day of December, 1893.
