BURNETT RIVER.—ALTERATION OF BAR LEADING BEACONS,
AND DIRECTIONS FOR ENTERING.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leading beacons, Burnett
River bar, have been moved from the south to the north
side of the river, and now lead over the bar on a W. ½ N.
(mag.) bearing, carrying 5ft. at low-water springs.

To enter, this lead must be followed until two small white
triangular beacons (red and white lights by night) on the
south shore come in line bearing S.W. by W. ½ W., and this
latter lead must be followed until the lighthouse comes in
line with the stage beacon bearing W., then proceed as
formerly.

PORT CURTIS.—FOUNDERING OF LIGHTBOAT.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lightboat which marked
the spit off Gatcombe Head, Port Curtis, has foundered.
She will be replaced as soon as possible.

PORT PHILLIP BAY.—SOUTH CHANNEL FORT.

PILOTS, masters of vessels, and others are hereby warned
that in connection with the defence works at the South
Channel Fort seven single-pile beacons are being set up in
about 4ft. of water over the sandbank on the north side of
the South Channel, commencing one cable's length to the
northward of No. 5 buoy, and extending therefrom to one
cable eastward of the South Channel Fort, at intervals of
from four to two cables apart.

Notice of Intention to take Land for the Kaituna Valley
Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1882," to exe-
cute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of portion
of a road in Marlborough County known as the Kaituna
Valley Road, and for the purposes of such public work the
land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken;
and notice is further given that the plan of the said road and
of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-
office at Kaituna, and is there open for inspection. And
notice is hereby given that all persons affected by the execu-
tion of the said public work or by the taking of the said
land shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the
execution of the said public work or to the taking of such
land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing,
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to
the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Notice of Intention to take Land for the Spur Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1882," to
execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of
portion of a road in the Woodville Survey District known
as the Spur Road, and for the purposes of such public work
the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to
be taken; and notice is further given that the plan of the
said road and of the land so required to be taken is de-
posited in the post-office at Maharahara West, and is there
open for inspection. And notice is hereby given that all
persons affected by the execution of the said public work or
by the taking of the said land shall, if they have any well-
grounded objections to the execution of the said public work
or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing,
and send such writing, within forty days from the first pub-
lication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works,

Bonus on Mineral Oil manufactured from Orepuki Shale.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 30th June, 1893.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the
production of mineral oil under the following condi-
tions:—

  1. A bonus of 1s. per gallon (£5,000) will be paid on the
    first 100,000 gallons of mineral oil produced from shale
    obtained in the Orepuki district, Otago; the oil to be of a
    quality approved of by Government, and to be sold at a fair
    average market price.

  2. Notice of intention to claim the aforesaid bonus must
    be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than
    the 31st December, 1894.

  3. The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1895.

  4. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the
    Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the
    recipient of the bonus.

  5. The other conditions, as to quantity, priority, quality,
    and value, to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer ap-
    pointed for the purpose by the Government.

Bonus on Starch manufactured in New Zealand.—Amended
Notice.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 15th November, 1893.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of two pounds
(£2) a ton will be paid on 100 tons of starch manu-
factured in the Colony of New Zealand in each of the years
1893 and 1894.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Notice of intention to claim the bonus for 100 tons in
    1893 must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not
    later than the 31st December, 1893. Notice of intention to
    claim the bonus for 100 tons in 1894 must be given in the
    same manner not later than the 31st December, 1894.

  2. The claims must be made respectively before the 31st
    December, 1893 and 1894.

  3. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the
    Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions is to be
    the recipient of the bonus.

  4. Evidence to be produced of such a nature as will enable
    an officer appointed by the Government to certify that the
    above-stated quantity in each year has been actually made,
    sold, and delivered.

  5. The bonus to be paid only on the certificate of such
    officer.
