Stratford Town Board, is published in accordance
with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

STRATFORD TOWN BOARD.
RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the Juliet Street Special
Rating District, taken on Tuesday, the 19th December, 1893,
upon the following proposal:—1. To (a) form and gravel
Juliet Street from the centre of Fenton Street to the centre
of Regan Street; (b) form, kerb, and gravel a footpath on
the east side of the said street, from Fenton Street to Regan
Street; (c) form, kerb, and gravel a footpath on the west
side of the said street, between Regan Street and the south
boundary of Section 267. 2. To borrow £300, under "The
Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for such
purposes, and to pay out of such loan the cost of raising it.
3. To pledge as security for such loan the special annually-
recurring rate of 4d. in the pound, to be made for a period
of twenty-six years over all rateable property within the area
bounded on the north by Regan Street, on the south by
Fenton Street, west by the New Plymouth-Foxton Railway-
line, and east by the eastern boundary of Sections 229, 230,
231, 232, 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238, 239, 240, 241, 242, 243,
Town of Stratford :—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 8, representing 20
votes: number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 7;
number of votes recorded for the proposal, 17; number of
ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 0.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

in accordance with the provisions of "The Local Bodies'
Loans Act, 1886."

WAIRARAPA NORTH COUNTY.
RESULT of a poll taken on the 22nd December, 1893, on a
proposal to raise a loan of £400 for formation and metalling
on the Castle Hill Road :—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 13, representing 29
votes: number of ratepayers who voted in favour of the pro-
posal, 9, representing 25 votes; number of ratepayers who
did not record their votes, 4, representing 4 votes.
As a majority of the ratepayers on the special roll voted in
favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled
to more than one-half of the total number of votes which can
be exercised by the whole of the ratepayers, I declare the
above proposal to be carried.

TRICT.
RESULT of a poll taken on the 21st December, 1893, upon a
proposal to raise a loan of £1,300 for fencing, forming, and
bridging Pori and Saunders's Road deviation :
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 24, representing 25
votes: number of ratepayers who voted in favour of the pro-
posal, 14, representing 14 votes; number of ratepayers who
did not record their votes, 10, representing 11 votes.
As a majority of the ratepayers on the special roll voted in
favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled
to more than one-half of the total number of votes which can
be exercised by the whole of the ratepayers, I declare the
above proposal to be carried.

supply District.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of
the Geraldine County Council, is published in
accordance with the provisions of "The Local Bodies'
Loans Act, 1886."

RESULT of a poll on a proposal of the Geraldine County
Council to borrow the sum of £400, under the provisions of
"The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the purpose of a
water-supply for the Four Peaks Water-supply District, in
the County of Geraldine, taken on Wednesday, the 15th day
of November, 1893, at Four Peaks Homestead :—
The number of ratepayers on the roll is 2 ; the number of
votes exercisable is 6: the number of ratepayers who voted
for the proposal was 2, and the number of votes recorded
was 6.
As the whole of the ratepayers have voted in favour of the
proposal, and the number so voting being entitled to the
whole of the votes which can be exercised, I therefore declare
the proposal carried.

EAST COAST, INDIA.—CALINGAPATAM.—ALTERATION IN
CHARACTER AND COLOUR OF LIGHT.
It is intended to substitute a fourth-order dioptric white
occulting light, on the 1st May, 1894, for the red dioptric
port light now in use at Calingapatam. The new light will
be exhibited from the column on which the present apparatus
is placed; it will be visible over the anchorage, and from
fourteen miles seaward in clear weather from N. 56° E.
through West to S. 36° W. magnetic.
2. The eclipse will occur every half-minute.
3. Further particulars respecting the duration of the
eclipse will be notified hereafter.

SWAN ISLAND LIGHT, NORTH-EAST COAST, TASMANIA.
WITH reference to the Notice No. 357, of 22nd October, 1892,
it is hereby notified for general information that the tem-
porary light will be replaced by a permanent light, which
will be exhibited from a white tower, 100ft. above high water,
on and after the 1st day of January, 1894, from sunset to
sunrise.
The light will be bright, fixed, and flashing every sixty
seconds, visible in clear weather fifteen miles.

SECOND FLATS, FITZROY RIVER.—ALTERATION IN LEAD.
NOTICE is hereby given that the front light of the Second
Flats Lead, Fitzroy River, has been shifted so that the
lights in line will now lead clear of the wreck of the
"Woonona."
The lights, which formerly led close by the stern of the
wreck (vide Notice to Mariners No. 27, of 1893), now clear it
by about 150ft.
